That is excellent, jazakAllah khair!

Okay then, khair inshaAllah. I don't know who Ridhwan Salim is, but his departure sounds more negative than anything else.
Allahu alim what is happening, may Allah make it only khair for those involved. JazakAllah khair.
As Salamu Alaykum
Is it true that Sh Muhammad al Yacqoubi switched to the Maliki madhhab?
Imam ash-Shafi`i said, "Whoever takes knowledge from books loses the regulations." (man akhadha al-`ilma min al-kutubi Dayya`a al-aHkaama). [Reported by Nawawi in the introduction to "al-Majmu`"]
i don't know why people are interested in Shaykhs' private lives e.g. how many wives they have, and where their wives are from.![]()
al-hamdulillah, Shaykh Muhammad is currently married, and to the best of our knowledge, the Shaykh has never married an asian woman and currently does not have an asian wife.
his first and second wives both passed away - the first in a car accident, the second from a long-term illness, may Allah envelope them both in His Mercy - Amin!

Shaykh Muhammad is trained in both madhhabs, his father being a Mufti in both schools, rahimahullah.
Generally, the Shaykh has been teaching and issuing fatwa in the hanafi school, especially in the west because the majority of sunni muslims are hanafi.
However, students have seen him praying according to either school. So rather than it being a 'switch' perhaps we should look at it as a personal preference. they may well teach fiqh al-maliki in the future too.
