    Default Famous/Reliable Anonymously authored works?

    As salaamu alaykum.

Are there any anonymously authored works that have come to be accepted and used by the Ulema in a large way, or not? If so, what are the names of the texts and in what fields have they been used?

And what explains the fact that they have been "anonymously" authored? Were they intentionally authored anonymously in order to make the effort solely for the sake of Allah? Was it that the work was not originally intended for use by anyone other than the author (e.g. a personal gloss made of a text) but was somehow discovered later on and then published? Or does somethiing else account for it?

When answering, remember that Tafsirs, Matns, Sharhs, Hashiyas, etc. all qualify as texts that I'm interesting in knowing about. So if anyone has any info in this regard, please share it.

    Jazakallahu Khair.

    Wa'salaam.

I often see the name "Siraj al-Din Chisti" as the name of the author of Hidayah al-Nahw.

Who is the author of Usul al-Shashi? Is it known?

What about texts written under a different name? (like an alias, etc.) Are there any like that? What would be a reason for that?

A good point that I had not even thought of.

I once heard that Maulana Umar Palanpuri anonymously authored a book on calculating prayer times.

    Anyone know about that?
