Brother Abdulwahhab, I have gone through the link in your post and I am not convinced on the reliability of the document "The Fitnah of......" attached. The brother who posted it stated his personal opinion and feeling that his cousins' attitude had something to do with the course of her Islamabad institute. With regards to the document, it was an answer to an unverified narration of the experience of one person and the Mufti answering himself stated that he had no verification of the allegations - "The answer given is in the light of ideas and beliefs described in the question and the responsibility to ascertain if the person in question actually adheres to such ideas and beliefs is not on the one answering the query". I myself have no knowledge of the courses of any of her institutes and my comments apply only to the material on Quran learning available on her website, in which I found the ideas expressed to be in contradiction of some of the allegations of the questioner.
I could not ofcourse go through the entire material available on the site and my review is based on few of them. Dr. Hashmi is not very popular in India this site was suggested to me for urdu-speaking people, by an aunt who lives in Canada where one of her institutes is present. I have read many of the articles posted on the website and have listened to many of the mp3 assorted lectures on the site and also few of the Urdu tafseer lessons on her site. In addition to this I have also listened to the english tafseer, about eight paras, by Amina Elahi, a former student of hers; and as per the published information on the site the explanation has been approved by Dr. Farhat Hashmi. In all of these files I have not once come across any of the wrong principles that the pdf document has mentioned, and in some cases quite the opposite. Just one example is that, the document states one of the 'beleifs' of Dr Hashmi is "A long time is wasted in the Madaris teaching grammar, and principles of Fiqh, it is a not requirement to learn Arabic, just teach people the translation of Qur’aan". In contrast to this, each of the tafseer lectures by her on the site contains a word by word analysis of the verses and explanation of the break up of arabic words, which is then followed by the explanation. In what I have listened to and read, this is designed to be a self paced course and she does not discourage further study of classical grammar or promote that it is not required.
Please do not take this as an accusation, it is simply a question. Have you personally studied the contents of her website or ever found any of her lectures on Quran or otherwise to contain any objectionable beliefs before concluding that they should be avoided? If yes, please do share them. I think it is better to do so on the thread you have provided in your post so that we do not go off topic here.
I apologize for the length of this postbut would just like to add that my intention of mentioning this site was only to give an idea of my personal findings and that one could check out to see if it was suitable for them. Please feel free to correct any mistakes I may have made or point out anything I may have overlooked.
