Default African Muslims in American History

In this historic talk, Imam Zaid Shakir presents an insightful look at the history and presence of African Muslims in America during the twentieth century. From slavery, the early Islamically influenced pan-African movements, the Moorish Science Temple, the Nation of Islam, and the varied Sunni communities to the life and legacy of Malcolm X as a Sunni Muslim, including questions and answers. These groundbreaking lectures shed light on this important topic and its relevance for today and the future. These lectures also served as Imam Zaid’s Fall Quarter class “Links to the Past, Bridges to the Future: African Muslims in American History” taught at Zaytuna Institute.

As salaamulaikum Brother. I myself am a African Muslim in America of slave desent.I think that it is vital that all African-Americans learn about Islam about Alislam (orthodox Islam).Speeking of history watch Alex Haley's Roots and you can see proof of African slaves praying to God calling him Allah but somewhere along the years of oppression and lost idenity all of them were made to be what ever their oppressors wanted (Christians that is) and a vast number of them never found there way back and some won't even acknowledge the truth Ahumduallah those brothers who brought Islam back to us reguardless of their teaching.
