Zakat is payable on 9 carat jewelery.

Feel free to mention your proofs, they should be interesting.

The only condition is that the gold must be separable from the alloy, which is possible today for nearly all 9 carat gold.

It is a bit difficult to tell, without knowing what proofs you have. They never taught us mind-reading : )

fair enough. actually i was waiting to hear the answer you just mentioned. so let me get this straight. 1) the reason the doubt might occur is because it is mixed wit alloy. And the alloy is gaalib over the gold. 2) should the gold not be worth more than the nisaab amount, then whether or not it can be seperated or not is not even an issue 3) if the gold in the 9 carrot gold ornmament/jewlery etc. is equal to the nisaab amount, then the question of whether it can be sepearted or not arises. here is my problem. it seems most kitaabs explain 'khuloos' which come in the mutuun as 'can b sepearted'. howerver from kitaabs like 'majmaul amhur' and 'badaaius-sanaaiee' i have come to the conclusion that in fact what that ibaarah in fact intended was 'if the pure gold/silver content' is equal to nisaab then wheter it may b seperated or not is not an issue. jazaakallah
