So how many forms do u ppl think are there of child labour?

Are all forms haraam, or could there be some halal forms that are beneficial too?

Also, islamically a child turns adult at a "specfic" time which may be different from person to person. But child labour laws apply to all kids under s specific age, is that right islamically? I mean what if a child is islamically an adult but not according to countries law, then would there be a *sin* (not crime) on someone who employees him/her ?

what is this specific age? sorry dnt mean to sound patronising or ewt but i was under the consuption that all countries had their own age limits.. well certainly there will be a difference between a 1st world country and a 3rd world 1.. u get what im trying to say.. not that it would be acceptible but a 3rd world country would obviously have more reason to employ kids from a younger age...

what certainly dont believe is right.. is exploiting them.. but then again people would argue that their standard of living is completely different to ours, therefore what wage we regard as penuts would be a hell ofa lot for them.. *shrugs* reali dnt know...

hmmm child labour of any kind which exploits a child is tottaly wrong in my opinion,
i think this also covers adults who are exploited such as those in sweat shops and the like.

Islamiclly, the laws of a country shud b obeyed if they do not conflict with the rules of Islam.
Protecting children who may have matured but still considered to be a child under the countries law should be fine.

Ah yes, so ppl lets talk about a third world country where dead poor or ultra poor ppl send their kids to various "homes" where they work and in "some" cases they are fed very well there, learn Qur'an; Salah and some regular studies.

What do you guys think about this type of Child Labour? Like those parents are not able to provide stuff that they get in "some" cases.

Any thoughts ?

Hmmm... I personally don't see anything wrong with that. Like a companion (peace be upon him) was taken in by the prophet (peace be upon him) (i cant seem to remember who? argh..)

Well if the kids are orphans then its better for them to be taken in by muslim families that can take care of them islamically and teach them about islam and their deen... And if their parents cant afford to look after them then it should be fine that they're out there learning their deen to help each other. The parents have to agree to it though and a legal guardian or a witness that its ok for the kids to study away from the parents.
Most families will pray for this kind of service as it releases them from their duty of taking care and maintaining their duty to raise their children, especially if they cannot afford it and they're trying to work desperately 4 jobs back to back and trying to make the ends meet yet it's not working out so they want what's best for their child and be it that they be in another home and be able to increase their deen and love for Allah swt that's what will happen.. Yet if they child loves the parents a lot and doesnt care if they live in a junk yard, shack then that would be ok too insha'Allah.

as for the other child labors where the kids are forced to work and against their will and freedom, this is something i dislike. where in order to survive they have to do this and that..and that is just plain wrong and sad to see many hundreds of kids in this situation. may Allah make it easy for them and help them and guide them insha'Allah ameen.


p.s. and there are scholars out there, sheikhs, very mega rich ones that sponsor kids to learn about their deen.. They pay all their expenses and provide for them like a parent does. Some do it for showing off, and others do it for the sake of Allah swt. and this is a good enough reason for us to try and do this too as its our duty in Islam to talk to ppl about islam. Though would be nice if we could learn it ourselves fully before we pass it on. and by our good characters ppl will see that real quick and never know Allahu Alim.
