Taking 'Bait'

From what I've understood, it is an option for people to take Bait with a Shaykh through the internet, via emails etc. However is this option only for people who do cannot take bait with other Shuyookh, for example their are no Shuyookh in their locality or country? What about one, who would prefer taking Bait with someone online becasue of hayaa'?

Can Bait only be taken once with one Shaykh, or can it be repeated with other Mashaayikh?

I can't answer that, because I have no idea yet, I was just wondering generally.

I don't know about bay'ah, but I first established islahi ta'alluq with my shaikh through email. Islahi ta'alluq will many times erve the same purpose as bay'ah.

There will probably be other mashayikh too who will do this online, if you can get access to their contact info.
