You should be able to find some info in Aap Beeti, by Hazrat Sheikh himself.

Mawlana Muhammed Yahya bin Mawlana Muhammed Ismail Al-Kandahlawi
He was born in 1287 Hijri; he had finished memorizing the Quran and the Farsi books that were studied by the age of 7. His father had exhorted him to recite the whole Quran, after he had memorized it, every single day, so he would begin reciting after Fajr, and would finish before Dhuhr. He studied the beginner Arabic books from his father then continued in the Madrasa of Mawlawi Husayn Bakhsh (Dehli). He studied most of the rational books (kutub al-‘aqliyya) in the Arabic Madrasa in Kandahla with Mawlana Yadullah As-Sunbuhli. He studied Maqamat al-Hariri with Mawlana Yadullah (I think his notes are printed with Maqamat al-Hariri). After he finished studying the various books, he busied himself with teaching in his father’s Madrasa in Dehli. He did the dauratul hadith with Mawlana Gongohi and did bay’ah with him, and served him. Mawlana Gongohi said about him, “Mawlawi Muhammed Yahya is my cane, I recline (rely) on it.” Mawlana Yahya would write Mawlana Gongohi’s letters and fatawa, and when Mawlana Gongohi passed away he taught in Gongoh. Mawlana Khalil called him to come to Mazahirul uloom to finish his studies in hadith, to which he consented. After finishing his studies he started teaching there. He died a Shahid, due to a stomach illness in the year 1334. He did Bay’ah with Mawlana Khalil, and obtained ijazah in Tariqa; Mawlana Khalil gave him Haji Imadadullah’s turban, and said, “You’re more worthy of it.”

Mawlana Yahya wrote down the lectures of Mawlana Gongohi on the six books of hadith. Mawlana Zakariyya published the notes on Sunan At-Tirmidhi, with his own notes, and named it Al-Kawakib ad-Durri. Many Ulema’ had encouraged Mawlana Zakariyya to publish his father’s work on the Sahih Bukhari, and was published in Hind and Egypt in 10 volumes with his notes on them, and was named Lami’ Ad-Darari. Mawlana Zakariyya had told his student Mawlana ‘Aqil to publish the lectures of Mawlana Gongohi on Sahih Muslim and the three sunan. Some lecture notes were published, al-Hal al-Mufhim Li Sahih al-Muslim in two volumes, Bil-Fayd as-Sama’I ‘ala Sunan an-Nasai’ – not finished.

Mawlana Muhammed Yahya was a Muhaddith, Adib, master in the Arabic language, he would earn his livelihood by selling books, and would not take any money for teaching. He was God-fearing, pious, recitor of Quran, cried at night while people slept; he left behind only two children, one daughter and one son, Mawlana Zakariyya. Allah ta’ala have mercy on him.

Maulana Yahya's (ra) karamat was that he could turn a layman into an alim in 72 hours. Not straight 72 hours, but time spent with the student say 2 hours a day, totalling 72 hours was enough. I heard this in a bayan.

    Amazing people mashallah.

This is a quote from the above article:

I replied: 'Yes Hazrat, I am indeed. But I recite the Quran in a Persian tone. You are used to hearing the recitation of Hakeem Mas'ood Ahmad Saheb, who is indeed a fine Qari.'

What does he mean by a Persian tone?
In Aap Beti Shaykh Zakariyya says something like this about himself too.
