Default What do the Deobandi Ulama say about marching, rallying and protesting???

I'm interested what the opinion of the Ulama is regarding these kind of activities. I asked one local Maulana and he said that many did not agree with it and that sometimes the harms (such as being associated with certain individuals or groups who promote wrong messages) outweigh the benefits, and that often such events do not really help solve the issue.

Some may argue that we should not just sit and do nothing, but rather voice our opinions and show our concern, and perhaps that it is an obligation on us to hold the Muslim rulers to account also.

Not an Alim but will add my opinion, if I may.

    I agree with both stances.

If throught these marches/protests salah is being missed or various other commands not being adhered to, then its pointless.

on the other hand, we live in a democracy and this is one way to show our displeasure at whats going on. Yes, I agree, I do not think in the long term these protest and marches has an effect on policy(unlike generations before) but we can stand in the court of Allah, on the day judgement, and if asked by Allah what did we do for our brothers and sisters in Palestine, we can at least say we did something. And if done with ikhlas, could be a source of our deliverance from hell.

A man who gives a penny can beat a man who gives a pound purely on ikhlas.

    Slmz,

I was watching the news last night and saw prominent South African Ulema of the MJC (Cape Town based) marching with the mayor protesting and handing over a memo requesting the breaking of all diplomatic ties with Zionist Israel. I did not see any representitives of the Jamaat Ulema South Africa, why is that ?

Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Wslmz,

    Mo.

    Asalamualykum Riyaaz

If you watched or attended the Johannesburg one you would have seen the Jamiatul Ulama Representatives there. In fact Moulana Ebrahim Bham delivered a speech to the attendees

The joburg one was on the 2nd Jan bro

The MJC is the leading body in the Cape thats why there Ulama were highlighted
There is no limit to what a man can achieve, as longs as it does not matter who takes the credit for it!

our imam molana salim announced the london march tomorrow..alhamdulillah...
The reason for all trouble on earth, is that people have lost sight of their Lord’s Will behind all events. They have lost sight of the hand of the One Who is testing them through those events. They have stopped seeing events as tests from their Lord. Therefore they continue failing those tests. "

Maulana Shabbir of Darul uloom Bury gathered various Ulema from the lancashire area and was encouraging them to get involved in Marches/demos etc.

Mufti Ikram ul haq sahib said in the same meeting that when going on these marches, we should be doing the zikr of Allah especially the 3rd Kalimah, and not just talking layani. Of course chant slogans etc but also do zikr while walking in these marches.

    salamz brother,
if something is not done in a islamic environment, or neither in a islamic way then there is no benefit in this act, how will the help of Allah come when we are in the midst of sins,
we are better off praying quraan and making duaa for mankind in a islamic environment
