    Default 'Ruh ul Bayan'?

Who wrote it? And is it reliable? I've seen many references to it on sunni sites...

As mentioned above Rooh al-Bayan is by a sufi named Ismail Haqqi [r.h/d:1137H]. Allamah Sarfraz Khan Safdar has listed his tafsir amongst the unreliable tafasirs of the Quran. It is filled with unreliable and weak opinions which have nothing to do with tafsir of the Quran.

    [Akseer fi Usool Tafsir, p86]

Allamah Sarfraz Khan Safdar writes in Rah-e-Sunnat:

"As for the view of the author of Tafseer Roohul Bayaan that this narration is a lie and concoction, his opinion is not even worth considering. He classifies weak and concocted narrations as authentic and authentic Ahaadith as weak. Besides that, the classification of Ahaadith is not his au fait. This is the speciality and job of the Muhadditheen and Fuqahaa. The author of Roohul Bayaan is a Mufassir with a sufi disposition. He has included everything, be it authenticated or not, in his work..."

He has also listed tafsir of al-Sawi as unreliable along with Urais al-Bayan.

The above mentioned tafasirs are very popular is the biddati circles.

THIS IS NOT A RELIABLE SOURCE!!! it is called Ruh al Bayan fi tafsir al Quran NOT Ruh al Ma'ani fi Tafseer al-Quran al-'Azim wa al-Sab al-Mathan , The other Book "Ruh al Ma'ani" is for the Famous Al Alusi BUT Ruh al Bayan has many wrong things in it and is written by Ismail Haqqi al Borosawii NOT ALUSI!
It is written in it that the four Imams will Carry the throne on the Day of judgement.

    Assalam o alaykum,

Ismail Haqqi writes in his tafsir:

فقال الشيخ صلاح الدين : إن الله تعالى أعطاني قدرة على قلب السماء إلى الأرض
فلو أردت أهلكتهم بقدرة الله تعالى

"Shaykh Salahuddin said: Allah has given me qudrah (power) to bring down sky on earth, and kill them all (attackers)..."

SubhanAllah! Statements like these, most likely uttered in the state of sukr (that's if these reports are even authentic), are used by some circles to prove that it's permissible to ask awliya for help in the time of difficulty. If awliya have power to bring down the skys, what is it for them to help us in other matters?

    Bismillah

Shaykh Ismael Haqqi Nazli was not only a great scholar but also a highly accomplished Shaykh in the Naqshbandi Mujjaddi tariqa of Shaykh Ghulam Abdullah Dehlawi qs. Alot of barelwis quote from him but one must remember that he had no contact with the so called barlewi ulema as he was scholar from turkey.

    Salam

Alhumdulilah I believe I was fortunate enough to visit Shaykh Ismail Haqqi's grave in the graveyard of the Fatih masjid recently.

Shaykh Muhammad Ali al-Sabuni, the famous Mufassir of this age and Murid of Shaykh Mahmud Effendi has been working on abridging this Tafsir and removing the weak material from it. I think some volumes of his abridgement may have been published.
