Default Wisdom behind having a beard (sunnah)?

    salam
what is the hikmath behind having sunnah(beard)?
having beard is sunnah. any scientific reasons for that??
i mean to ask, for every sunna, it is proven that it is good for health if we follow sunnah, like drinking water and eating food in sitting position, washing hands before meals like that many sunnahs are proven by scinetifically.

if any body asks me why i am having beard what should i tell them apart from saying that it is sunnah?? please give ur comments.

    Assalamu Alaikum

To say we follow a sunnah for anything other than it being a Sunnah will diminish our reward for following it in the Aakhirat. This is because we followed it for some worldly gain, and those who follow any of the Islamic teachings for worldly gain may get their benefits in this world, but they will not have any reward in the hereafter. (as explained by Maulana Saad sahab regarding this Ayah: )

    Allah says:
Whosoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We give him increase in his reward, and whosoever desires the reward of this world, We give him thereof, and he has no portion in the Hereafter. [Surah Ash-Shura: 20]

    Agreed with aabirusabeel.

But one thing I recall is when some archaeologists were in Egypt near the pyramids, due to the area being full of mosquito, they were ordered to let the beard grow as some

The answer for your question is pretty easy.
When you grow a beard for the sake of Allah (Islamic reasons) and have it for a month likes say, then you shave it off you feel very vainy and unworthy of Allah and his mercy.

Even when I clean my beard too much and I do a mistake and a clean it alot I feel very vainy, the beard is a veil for a Man not to feel vainy, when you shave it your shaving it for dunya reasons (this lifes reasings), you wanna look beautiful for the people (unbeleivers of this life).

But when you grow your beard you look beautiful towards only Allah!

Shaykhul Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhalvi (nawwarallahu marqadahu) mentions in his Aap Beeti, that he went through a period of his life where he would read everything he could get his hands on. There as well he read that it's medical proven that the growing of the beard is good for the health of the teeth. He as well mentioned a healthy wisdom behind doing fardh-ghusl of the whole body...

    These things make me crazy.

How is it that muslims followed the Sunnah for over 1400 years, without all this obsession for "scientific reasons"? What reasons did they have, when no one went around displaying PSEUSO-"scientific" researches?

This materialist, quantitative, westernized "apologetical" mindset is destroying all intellettual and spiritual capacities of muslims of today.

I shudder everytime i read that there is really someone thinking that there are scientific researches saying that on the three fingers used to eat (and only on them...) there is a kind of "special substance" naturally secreted by the body, that helps the digestion... Or that most part of diseases are in the stomach, and are caused by the fact of drinking by standing... And so on..

That's absolutely non-sense that make us look like fool people with inferiority complex, trying to "justify" our intention to follow the Sunnah..

So we follow Sunnah for the sake of "modern science"?
Or for love of RasuluLlah (saws) and for the Baraka therein?

"Why you grow your beard?" - "Because I love the Messenger of Allah (saws)" - Khalas.

If i had met some silly brother starting talking about "scientific reported benefits" of beard, i think now i wouldn't have embraced Islam.

    AlhamduliLlah i discovered it later.

La hawla wa la quwwata illa biLlah!

Brother, I think you are going into an extreme. In my opinion there's no problem with widom or scientific benefits of any parts of Deen as long as these don't corrupt our intentions. Actually, sometimes these things display the greatness of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Just like the human body created, there are so many biological miracles that it makes you say, "Subhan'Allah".

I agree about this, but that's not my point, not about finding wisdoms..

My point is that i find it very odd and silly to think that "there must be a scientific explaination" for every single Sunnah, and many things i heard are so silly and pathetical that can make run away every person equipped of a minimal intelligence, not to talk about intellectual people.

My problems is with modern scientific mindset, not with wisdoms - but i've already written about this in many other posts.
