Early Hanafi Scholars / Clothing Below the Ankles

Did Imam Abu Hanifa (ra) or Imam Muhammad, Imam Abu Yusuf (ra on both) state in any works that it is impermissible/ makruh tahreem to have clothing below the ankle. I understand that latter Hanafi scholars advocated that it is not allowed- Mukhtasar al Quduri, Talim ul Haq. What does al Haidayah or Nur al Idah say?

Makruh Tahriman is the same as "not allowed" in actions. A layman would not differenciate between makruh and haram anyway.

Why Ibn Abidin's position on this has been misrepresented by certain people/scholars is yet be explained properly.

Assalamu alaikum,
I asked one mufti about the clothing below the ankle in ibn Abidin and he mentioned that ibn Abidin (rahimahUllah) made a mistake by apparently quoting a weak opinion (from a weak book). So according to him, this opinion of pant below the ankle is makhruh-e-tanzihi in his book but he said that it is not the correct opinion. I know Mufti Husain saheb mentioned that this opinion is not there in ibn Abideen. I don't know how to reconcile these two views.
