As Salâm Alaykum wa Rahmatullâh wa Barakâtuh
I see you are hanafi, but for the maliki, you can do the tayamum if there is no water, or if the water is dangerous for your health.
Wa Alaykum Salâm wa Rahmatullâh wa Barakâtuh
I remember reading it in Ta`leemul Haqq several years back that if doing Ghusl with water which might be dangerous to health [if you are already ill] then you should wash your body [whole body except the head] and then you can carry on doing prayers and as soon as you are better and able to pour water over your head, then it would be Wajib to wash the head, so basically you should wash the head as soon as you are better.
The above Ma'alah wouldn't apply to you since you are not ill.
Maybe the knowledgable brothers here may intervene.
It is reported from Abu Umamah from the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alayhi WaSallam) that he said:
اتَّقُوا فِرَاسَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَنْظُرُ بِنُورِ اللَّهِ
" Fear the Insight of the Believer, for verily he sees with the Light of God"

According to what I've read brother Zaynul has written is correct according to the Hanafi fiqh.

We selam,
if you for example wake up and need to ghusl, but the time for fajr is less then 10min, and your boiler needs more then 10min to gain hot water, then you are allowed to make tayammun. But if you have enough time to wait the water boil (just to warm the water a little bit), then you should wait, make ghusl and then pray.
Although, tayammun is allowed just in case there is no water at all. Practicing taking a shower with cold water is a good practice for hajj, because there is not always hot water and you don't have time to wait for some.
As the brothers said, if a cold shower (for example: in Alaska) would harm you, then you should not do it, but if it is just because you are unconformatable with it, you aren't allowed to skip it.
