Default Clarification on Bismillah (ONLY SCHOLARS PLEASE!)

I've been confused by the following: http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...5&postcount=14

So do I understand this post well that according to Hanafi the Quran contains two , one included as part of Surat Al-Naml and another one which is not linked to any surah but has been revealed as one single independent verse to be placed at the beginning of each sura.

Or is it like that each bismillah written at the beginning of a Surah is an independant verse so that there would be 113 independent Bismillah-verses of the Quran?

Or is it like that the Bismillah-verse from Al-Naml is the only of the Quran and it has has been put at the beginning of each surah?

Could our respectable scholars please clarify this because it is causing great trouble in my little head.

Okay, so in fact this is really just a juristic detail.

If I just accept as an separate ayah placed in front of each surah like Imam Abu Hanifa said I'll be on the right way - right? No need to delve more in this matter, right?

What does Maulana mean? If one is called a Maulana, does this mean they have undergone a certain number of years of formal Islamic education?

Each madhab has its own definition of what the Basmalah constitutes and if and how it should be said during prayer. So, if you want to study all of the angles and come to a reasoned and knowledgeable conclusion about the matter and see which madhab it's in conformance with, obviously you would need to delve deeper into it. If you are comfortable accepting the Hanafi position without studying it, while knowing there are other alternative viewpoints, then obviously you don't need to delve deeper into it. However, you won't find much in English outside of a few tafsirs of Surah al-Fatihah and a handful of other basic materials.

Maulana literally means "our master." It is generally used for someone who has formally studied and graduated from a credible institution. It usually takes about 6-8 years.

As for Maulana Nazim, he posts here as eTeacher. See his bio here:

I understand the matter like this:

Hanafi says: The opening Bismillah is a verse but independant from each surah
Shafi'i says: The opening Bismillah is a verse but part of each surah

It's really a detail and not really relevant as both agree that it is revelation and part of the noble Quran.

Maybe this thread should be deleted now the matter is clear, because I don't want to be responsible for other people getting confused too through my thread.
