I need some advice from knowledgeable brother or if possible scholars concerning the following situation.
There are some Albanian families who fled the war and now live here in my town.
Some months ago I came in touch with some Albanian boys who wanted to "learn Islam", I need to say that indeed they really needed education because their knowledge of even basic things like shahadah was simply absent.there has been much progress since and we have been able to establish a little islamic class for boys.
Now I got some request if I could teach also some Albanian women, in fact at least one of the boys mother and another women from a similar background.
The point is that I'm not sure if it is lawful for me as a male non-mahram to teach them, because of the gender mixing? Of course the boys and women class would be hold separately and of course in a public place like inside the actual masjid.
Please note that:
- we have no truely trustable and qualified scholar (nor male, nor female) with ijazah and authentic studying background in in this locality.
- the masjids president made a proposal that his wife could teach them, but I seriously doubt this as he is shaven (having a mustache though), he installed dart, billard and football table in our masjid and he and his son dosn't really show much of islamic education. (He, the president, hit a youngster in the face because he apperently made his son cry)
- the person assigned as Imam (turkish state imam) is not trustable in fiqh, he can read tajweed but gave unserious verdicts concerning many different cases. (I can provide examples if required.)
This is just a little overview of our current situation, our respected onboard can scholars can clarify this issue. If there is something unclear I'll try to provide more information insha Allah.
Edit: I do not claim to be a scholar but personally (personal opinion) I feel it to be superior that someone following the trustable fiqh from deobandi-afiliated daruliftaa and literature teaches some jahil persons instead of the above-mentioned personalities.

Well I studied darse-nizaami for three years, and all except one of my teachers were males. The classes were taught by older and married Ulama from behind very thick curtains, and one of my teacher's daughter also studied in my class. Note it was a very small madrassah for alima classes; we were taught in a musallah and in total were around ten girls, two of them married and elderly.
Lost in an ocean of doubt and confusion am I

السلام عليكم,
You should check in Bahishti Zewar, I think I saw some relevant advices/rulings on this kind of situation in there. There are a few sections specifically on education of women.

Assalamu alaikum brother,
I don't see the need. Knowledge is very easily accessible through online audio and it can be easily done from behind a barrier, etc.
Can you teach them from behind a curtain? Or can you request that they wear veils when they come to class?

assalamu alaikum brother,
for the women you mention that they are the boys' mothers - i was wondering roughly how old they are and the age gap between you and them - because that might play a factor for the permissibility or not. i suggest you can send an email to AskImam explaining the situation in more detail including the age thing - which you do not need to reveal here. Or if you don't mind I can ask our imam (mufti) for some guidance but I will require more details.
I was wondering about if there might be some knowledgeable woman in the community like you who could maybe teach the women as another option?
Also brother, I suggest that you put forward the proposition that there be a curtain separating you from them. You will be more comfortable and so will they.
At the end if we follow proper guidance of the ulema / sharia there will be benefit. Moulana Saad says that Shariat and sunnat will not be revived except through [making effort according to] shariat and sunnat.

Wa aleykum salam
for your many replies.
The problem is that they speak no English have no internet at home as far as I know. Furthermore I would have to provide them pseudo-salafi websites, because thats the nearly the only islamic resources we have in german online.
I don't know if we have such curtain at the masjid because we usually have two separate rooms for women and men, but I can still ask the president.
I can provide you with more detail insha Allah and then you can ask your local scholar insha Allah.
Concerning the knowledgeable women, I don't know personally - but I just see shaven man and many children who don't have much/any islamic behaviour. (but of course there is still the presidents wife available...)
Askimam seems to be pretty overloaded, my last request has still not be answered.
