From Whom does the Mufti Minhajuddin of St Louis have ijaza of Tasawwuf and which silsila does he belong to? My brother there wants to do bait and are there any other good Mashaik in this area? please respond if any one knows as soon as possible. Jazakallah Khair.

I know Mufti Minhajuddin for the last 10 years. The brother is a role model for this ummah, specially the young Ulama. I'm very close to his young brother Mufti Azeemuddin. Inshallah, i'll ask Mufti Azeemuddin if he has any info. of his brother's ijaza.

Ok, so I talked to Mufti Azeemuddin and he said its the better for the brother to directly talk to Mufti Minhajuddin about this. Mufti Azeemuddin said, he doesnt the details.

Mufti Minhajuddin has studied under some of the world's greatest scholars, receiving several formal authorizations in the sacred sciences with top honors. His commitment to the sacred sciences began early in his life when Allah blessed him with the ability, by age 10, to complete the memorization of the Holy Quran. He also received authorizations in various recitations of the Holy Quran. Next, he completed a rigorous 8-year Alim course at Darul Uloom Zakariya where he achieved mastery in the Islamic sciences, which included but was not limited to, language, exegesis (tafseer) and jurisprudence (fiqh). Following graduation, he earned authorizations in Islamic Legal Verdicts and Hadith under the Grand Mufti of South Africa- Shaykh Raza-ul-Haq. I met them both at the Islamic Institute of Elgin for a Darul Hikmah retreat. They are DIAMONDS for this generation.

alHamdulillah we have 3 well-known 'Ulama in the community: Mufti Minhajuddin Ahmad (who has done so much for this community that I cannot put it into words, masha'allah), Maulana Dr. Omar Hussaini (who moved here from Chicago just 2 yrs ago), and Maulana Haroon, who is mostly for the Urdu speaking crowd and is an Ustaadh of Hifz ul-Qur'an.

I don't think Mufti Minhajuddin has ijaazah in tasawwuf, hence he would not be taking bay'ah from anyone. But as the brother mentioned, it's best to speak with him directly.

Maulana Omar Hussaini conducts weekly majaalis on Tazkiyatun-Nafs, on the pattern of Shaykh Husain Abdul Sattar (db) of Chicago (http://www.sacredlearning.org/). Maulana Omar is a student of Hazratji Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad (db) [and of Shaykh Husain (db)] and, based on many hints, he is Saahib un-Nisbah masha'allah.

Maulana Dr. Omar Hussaini bhai is down to earth brother. I used to see him when he used to study at Elgin madrasah. My brother once invited some young Ulama to our house for dinner. Maulana Hussaini was among them. Me being a jaahil was speechless in front of them. The old saying of when camel comes in front of mountain, he find out his reality.

I didnt see Maulana for a long time and was wondering where he was. After reading your post, now I know where he is.
When my brother comes back from 4 months jamaat, I can see the Ulama gathering again at my place, inshallah.

Also, my brother tells me that some of his freinds have made bait to mufti Minhaj. what could this type of bait be if not for tasawwuf? i am confused.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your brother's name? Either I or he is mistaken.

Regarding Maulana Omar, I would not be comfortable giving out his email, so I think it'll be best if your brother either first contacts me, OR meets Maulana Omar in person, as Maulana Omar is a regular at largest masjid here in St. Louis where Mufti Minhajuddin serves as Imam and Mufti.

If not at that masjid, then your brother can come directly to West Pine Masjid where Maulana Omar (db) conducts his weekly majlis after Maghrib every Sunday.
