Check out this link. It's a continuation of this article but the former link deals with the questions you asked. You can also check this link as well; it's an answer to a question similar to yours.

I'd also advise that when one names their child, one should bear in mind how the name should be correctly pronounced, and how others might end up pronouncing it. My friend had a baby about three months ago and they had given the baby girl a very nice name, but unfortunately her own family members were pronouncing the name wrong, so they gave the baby a new and more easily pronounced name.

On one of those links, under the "changing names" part, it talks about how Rasoolullah (SAW) changed the name Asiyah to Jameela because the name meant disobedient.. does that mean we can't keep the name Asiya? (after the wife of Firown?)

Disobedient is with an 'ain at the front.. Asiya with an alif is different.

Ohhhh makes sense! Its hard to tell when both are spelled in english with an A. I should have looked it up in the dictionary! Jzk for the clarification

    Assalamu alaykum,

Another question about names, according to those links.. it said that names of Surah's can not be given to a child.. but I've seen so many people do this, and some of the names are quite common... do they mean every name of the Surah? Or just the ones with the "letters" of the meanings only Allah knows, ie. YaSeen, TaHa, etc.
