I want to know if we are allowed to pray behind salafis, because they all do masah over common socks. I mean even if we didnt actually see them doing this.

If you don't see them doing it then there is no point in simply assuming something.
The Ulama on this forum must be aware of the infamous incident of Shaykh (Imam) Subayyal visiting South Africa and trying to do Masah on his thin socks and the Ulama (of South Africa) requesting the Shaykh to wash his feet instead (and he did).
This scenario and incident in South Africa was put to Mufti Rafi Usmani (DB). The question of praying behind someone who does Masah on thin socks was put to Mufti Rafi Usmani on his visit to UK and he answered it.
salam to all.at my masjid just the other day a sheikh said it ws permisseble to wipe over thin socks and nobody refuted him,so people took that view.i think every one in my country is a salafi even ew dont know!!!this is amazing info brothers!!

Asslamoalykum ,
i would like to study the madhab of Imam abu hanifa , is there any book in which I can find daily masail explained in light of Imaam or any book written by himself (Immam sahab)..
Jazakallah Khair...

Jazakallahu khairan akhi Muadh, can you post a fatwa about this please, because I read this:
http://www.askimam.org/fatwa/fatwa.p...05caacc4dff625
It states:
When having a firm doubt, in this case a doubt whether the Imam did or did not wash his feet, then in principle it will be makruh tahreemi to pray behind the Imam.

Asslamo Allaikum,
I cannot recall the full answer but in short Mufti Rafi Usmani (DB) considered it permissable to pray behind such an Imam who performs Masah on thin socks.
It is possible that Mufti Saheb (DB) considered it Makrooh but still valid, since this is a famous incident and query I am sure someone else can recall it fully and accurately.
I understand the position of Ulama of South Africa but I do recall that Hanabila have a much more relaxed view on the issue of wiping on thin socks.
Allah (SWT) knows best.

wa
But didn't Mufti Husain Sahab say that the prayer of the imam must be valid according the madhhab of the muqtadi', otherwise the latter's prayer wouldn't be valid?
For example, if the imam is Hanbali and perform masah on thin socks, for him Salah is ok but for an Hanafi muqallid it isn't.
Or another example: if a Shafi'i imam lose blood and don't renew his wudu' before prayer: for himself it's ok but Salah wouldn't be valid for an Hanafi muqtadi'.
Have I misunderstood or there are different opinions inside Hanafi madhhab; i.e.:
1. that Salah behind an imam is valid if it is valid according the madhhab of the Imam.
2. that Salah behind an imam is valid if it is valid according the madhhab of the follower.

Very confusing. Well at least now I am not in the situation where I often have to worry about the Imam doing masah on socks. A couple years ago I had to worry about it all of the time, even for Jummah.
