    Salaams.

About the pork issue, the only reason I gave it up was because it is prohibited in Islam. There are many reasons to have it:

    1) Taste--it is fabulous. I used to enjoy it when I got bored with chicken and turkey. Pork is the "other white meat"..bbq'ed pork is yummy

    2) Nutritional value--incredibly rich in high quality proteins and fiber. My model friends and I used to eat cold cuts of ham for breakfast everyday!

    3) Reasonably priced--compared to other healthy meats that I still eat, like veal, rabbit, ostrich, even baby goat/lamb, pork is quite inexpensive, because it is plentiful

    4) Quite hygienic--modern day pigs are clean cuz these stupid animals are kept in tight stalls that restrict their movement and also help fatten them

Some argue that pigs are treated badly in farms. But so are other animals. And I am not exactly an animal rights person!

But at the end of the day, if Islam forbids pork, I wont eat it.

    Alhamdulilah.

Why waste, lose the chance to gain the eternal, forever heaven for simple stuff like this? as our tradition teach us, this world and everything is temporary... and if one sacrifices something for Allah, he gives something better in return.....

    Wa alikum salaam

    Very interestign thing you said.

    I agree.

Today, we have to justify everything scientifically or bend over backwards to make it healthy or unclean to appeal to our sense of logic. Is submission not enough for us (including myself, of course)?

I would say the exact things of the above, because usng these arguments, hindus will forbid cow. I just said up to yesterday that before Islam, I ate some haram meat at a hotel, and I ended up in the ER twisting in pain and they thought it was my appendix. I blame the flesh of swine. But then I realize, when I went to a gas station once with a hindu cashier, and I told him I converted to Islam from hinduism, he remarked that hinduism was correct because it forbids beef, and mad cow disease was the reason and proof not to eat it. I was like..ummm..no... but really, when you use worldly proof, you can always be outdone, but Allah SWT's orders can never be outdone or proven wrong.
