Sunnah of Licking the Fingers

When I was going in Jama'at one purana saathi told, that Rasulullah did actually not lick the whole of his five fingers after taking his meal like some do in a quite disgusting manner. He said, 1) Rasullulah ate only with three fingers and 2) He ate not in such a way that the whole fingers let alone whole hands would get dirty. Supposedly he only licked the inward tips of his three finger he ate with.

Is there any basis for this claim? If yes, are there more Sunnahs we laymen misunderstood and practice on in a more inappropriate (disgusting) way?

if prophet(sw) eat with 3 fingers, then why would he lick 5 fingers? if we eat with 5 finger, why lick only 3? the sunnah is licking fingers, with how many you eat.

and prophet(sw) wouldnt have curries and different things like we have, as narrated in riyadus salihin, that time the didn´t use to have oft foods which are cooked like curries and so on. so if people eat bread or dates, not even 3 finger self become dirty totaly.

Yes the Sunnah is to eat with three fingers, and to lick them.

Some Ulama - such as Ml. Abrar al-Haq sahib- have mentioned this practice to be objectionable, as the sunnah practice was to lick the fingers clean, not suck them clean.

The arabic word used, is very close to the english one ie. لعق meaning lick and not مص which means to suck.

Is it something the Prophet ordered the ummah to do or is it a adat(habit)?

that subject needs to be expounded. Mufti sahib,any good books on that subject as its the first ive heard of that concept.
