Default Islamic View: Retirement house, nursing home or old age home.

A New phenomena spreading in the Islamic world is: Retirement houses or Senior Citizen Facilities for Old people. This is when Children abandon their parents in these institutions because they couldn't take care of'em during old age or because their Wives Ask them to...

I've seen Many people Abandon their parents in these houses and not only do they go live elsewhere but they leave the country all together, and they rarely come back to see their Old-Timers, In Fact it was horrible during the last elections that these responsible people only visited their parents to seek their Votes, Parents where happy that they could actually leave the place and they agree to vote...

This has recently spread in the Maghrib or Morocco as al Jazeera Reports below.

    Salams bro,

My personal feeling is that any civilization worthy of the name must establish and maintain care of the elderly, disabled and children as a sacrosanct, personal and familial duty.
"If you were to destroy in mankind the belief in immortality, not only love but every living force maintaining the life of the world would at once be dried up. Moreover, nothing then would be immoral; everything would be lawful, even cannibalism."

I agree with the concept of senior citizens homes, so that old ones who have no families at all will at least have someplace to stay where they can have some aid and company.

However, I do not agree with children dropping their parents off at senior citizens homes. Children should take care of their parents and at least try to reciprocate all the love and care they received from there parents while growing up.

Maybe, it has become easy for the kids to drop their parents at such homes bcoz they never recieved much love and care when growing up.

Kids brought up by babysitters and nursery homes will reciprocate in the same way.

Actually some feel that they are really actually taking care of their parents by dropping them in such homes.
Perception of goodness and evil has changed a lot.
