I'm not denying that about guys. They ARE like that and I wouldn't care if you generalised. I hate politcal correctness anyway.

And THAT is precisely the problem. MY personal reasons why I'd be apprehensive about a girl going uni over a guy is that they would be PREY for ill minded guys. It's out of protectiveness for them.

Like I said in my original post in this thread, the ideal would be guys and girls going to segregated unis, but that's not possible and so if there must be one party that has to face the fitnah, it's better it were men, cos in the end they're the ones that have to provide.

    .
But don't generalise and place all women in the same boat, just because of your experience of some.

I'm a bit confused ... what is all this 'fitna' that university going students are forced to participate in? University is no different from any other place in the city. Just as living in a city in which there exists a strip club doesn't mean that you have to attend it - similarly, just by attending University doesn't mean you have to or are even encouraged to get tanked at a frat/sorority party and end up with magic marker scribble all over your face.

I attended university for undergraduate and graduate studies. I knew lots of muslims ... One could easily get a degree without compromising on their modesty. Just as there is a risk of a woman going to a supermarket, striking up a conversation with a good looking guy at the check-out register and dating him - you could do the same in college. But, guess what - you don't have to! Non-Muslims really respect whatever form of morality you want to impose on yourself. If you don't want to hang with them, they won't hang with you. If you don't want to attend their parties, get chummy with them, you don't have to and they really won't care.

There is no need to deal with the opposite gender in university much at all, with the exception of the professor (question/answers), and those rare times in which you must participate in a group project and stuff. There were only a handful of courses in which I did homework in a group - and there was no real need for that either if I didn't play Unreal Tournament the night before and studied instead

Is it impermissible for a muslimah to discuss a technical issue with a man in a business-like setting (being properly dressed and maintaining decorum)? This is the extent to which inter-gender interaction in university is necessary. If this permissible, then what is the issue with attending university? If it's not permissible, then yeah - university education kullu haraam!

Sister muminah and bro Muadh, I'd just like to apologise for the harsh tone earlier. I let the ranting get the better of me.

A quick friendly reminder at the order of the Ameer that in this blessed month of Ramadhan, please do not start any controversial and contentious issues. Also, please do not get into any quarrels and arguments.

I swear if someone does, then I'm gonna throw him in the Jail Khana for two months at least. (wait...did I sound angry there?...the fast must be getting to me) : )

The devils and Shayateen are jailed in this month. Berbatov should be jailed as well for joining the devils. : )

So folks, continue posting but please, do not discuss any in depth issues which are not related to Ramadhan. Please save them for next month.

Let us utilize every single second of this month of Ramadhan properly. Let us increase our prayers, duas, zikr of Allah, recitation of the Quran, and many other noble acts.

Do not waste your time otherwise you will end up in the Jail Khana. Which by the way will be a good move considering that you will be away from SF for a couple of months and then and only then will you utilize the month of Ramadhan properly. Man, this is confusing to me. : )

It's interesting that previously, people have asked to be banned from SF so that they can concentrate on their life away from SF : )

Ok folks...so no quarrels and fights and also, please do not start any contentious issue in this month if it has nothing to do with Ramadhan.
this thread will be closed until the end of Ramadhaan.

SubhanAllah this thread has really gone bumpty, bump.

I think this is my exit for this thread, information overload that leads to non- constructive criticisms and behaviour.

    Good luck on the debate.

Just take care of your own and give encouragement to others.
