Mawlana Hussain Ahmad Madani & Prof. Salim Chishti

Assalam o alaykum,

Professor Yusuf Salim Chishti was a sharih of Dr. Allamah Muhammad Iqbal and a companion of Muhammad Ali Junnah. He was very active in the Pakistan movement. He didn't have a very good opinion of Shaykh al-Islam Mawlana Hussain Ahmad Madani and even wrote insulting remarks regarding him in few of his works. Later on he came across Shaykh al-Tafir Mawlana Ahmad Ali Lahori. Mawlana Lahori told Prof. Chishti the status of Mawlana Madani and told him to rethink his opinion of Mawlana Madani and save his akhirat. Mawlana Lahori explained to him the status of Mawlana Madanai and told him that Mawlana Madani is the greatest wali of Allah on face of the earth in terms of knowledge, taqwa and sincerity. Prof. asked Mawlana Lahori that how did he came to know of this? Mawlana Lahori replied that I go to Hajj regularly and those awliya Allah who are present there have agreed on this that there is no match of Mawlana Madani. At the advice of Shaykh Qadi Zahid al-Hussani (khalifa of Mawlana Madani) he also turned to Shaykh Hamid Mian Khan (also a khalifa of Mawlana Madani) of Jamia Madania.

Later on Prof. Salim Chishti repented and below is a piece by him of his repentance that was published in a booklet form as well as in many papers. In there Prof. Salim Chishti refer to Mawlana Madani as Shaykh al-Islam, Mujahid Azam, Ayat min Ayaat Allah, Sayyidi, Wasilati, etc.

He also touches on many other good points. It is a must read!

and..can somone give a brief biography of proff. saleem sahib (other than that mentioned in the article)? i just know that he was a renowned historian..
