    Lightbulb Names for Masjid

If you could chose a name for a new Masjid, then which name would you give to it? Would you chose the names based on the location, primary goal of Masjid or other criterias? If so, then which ones?

I would name it based on the location.

Can you please elaborate? What would you look for in the location? In what terms would it change the name of the Masjid? Give examples... [In a Salafi enviroment a "Masjid Imam 'Azam" would fit very nice. ]

Another question on the side: What's the difference between for example "Masjid ar-Rahman" and "Masjid Rahmaniyya"? Is there any minor difference hidden in it?

Actually Hadhrat Mufti Sher Muhammad's masjid in Lahore has Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali on the outside wall, and Abu Hanifa, Idrees as-Shafi'i, Malik bin Anas, and Ahmad bin Hanbal on the inside (may Allah bless them all) : )

Hm, depends. If it's the only masjid in a small city, then I think the name should have the city's name in it, maybe at the end, like 'Islamic Foundation of 'city name' or something like that. If it's one of the many masajid and musallahs in a city, then there should probably be a unique name, like my dad and the tableeghi brothers in his city had opened two musallahs ten years back; one was called Darus Salaam, and the other Darul Arqam.
