Default UK Launch of the Academy of Self-Knowledge / Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri...

Dear Brothers & Sisters – As Salaamu Aleikum…

Hamdulillah wa Shukrallah – congratulations on this most promising place of gathering and sharing. I have been visiting for a while and intend to start participating and benefitting soon, Inshallah ul Aziz…

First of all, I would love to convey my Salaams to and Duas for all members and readers from rainy and chilly Copenhagen. I am hastening to write this message since I believe most of you are in the UK?

On Saturday 24. July there will be an arrangement at Regents College in London. The event is the UK launch of the so-called Academy of Self-Knowledge (ASK). I am unaware of how many/ if seats remain (reservation necessary) but I wanted to share this (admittedly late) information with you, so that perhaps one or two amongst you can benefit from this gathering of immense importance…

ASK is founded by the contemporary Master and Teacher Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri. The Academy is a unique online programme in knowledge of the Self, the Prophetic model, the seen and the unseen, and the journey of creation in this world to the next. In my mind, those Brothers and Sisters who are ready to commit to that crucial inner work towards enlightenment will find that ASK and Shaykh Fadhlalla’s authorship, represent a magnificent and awe-inspiring wellspring of spiritual guidance bridging timeless insights with contemporary circumstances and requirements.

Shaykh Fadhlalla is the author of such books as “Journey of the Self”, “Beginning’s End”, “Sufi Cosmology of the Self”, “Decree and Destiny”, “Sufi way to Self-unfoldment” in addition to a wide variety of titles on Islam, Tassawuf, self-knowledge/development, and videos/audios on the Deen. After a career in international business and the oil industry, he has travelled and taught all over the world for over 20 years and has Idhn from the Shadhili-Darqawi, Qadiri, Chisti and Rufai Turuq amongst others…

I hope and pray that those of you who are willing, able and meant to contribute or benefit get in contact, Inshallah ul Aziz…

PS. Interested Scandinavian Brothers and Sisters are welcome to reply to this post since an event is being planned in Denmark in August including the participation of Shaykh Hisham Kabbani (Naqsbandi-Haqqani) and Shayk Asaf Durakovic (Rufai)… UPDATE: Please note that participation of Shaykh Fadhlalla and Shaykh Kabbani is not confirmed by their respective students. Wa Aleikum As Salaam Brother Sadiq,

Shia? Shaykh Fadhlalla is about as Shia as Shaykh Kabbani is Wahhabi... He lets both Sunnis and Shias have it for their complacency and sectarian excesses...

At the Rasooli Centre in Pretoria (which is his Zavia) the mass of students are Sunni Hanafis and Malikis - however, Dhikr and Jamaat includes Muslims of every origin and extraction ranging from hardcore (South African style!!!) Deobandi Tableeghis to Imami Jafaris... And oh yeah - the Imam is a graduate from the infamous Medina University...

Some people love this abundance - others loathe it. But if you have questions regarding his teachings I recommend you ask him in person. He will be in Luton during the summer. The schedule is posted here...

I'm not saying anything about anyone but "Haeri" is a common Shi'ite surname.
Maulana Abd ush Shakoor Lakhnawi Rahimahullah wrote a book about shia kufr in the Quran titled "Tanbeeh ul Haireen" A Warning to the Doubters, it's a play on words of the surname Haeri

Wa Aleikum As Salaam Brother Muawiya,

Jazakallah for your (I am sure - wellmeant) Nasiha.

    *Sigh*

To clarify, Shaykh Fadhlalla is the student of (amongst others) Shaykh Abdal Qadir Al Murabit (who I suppose it is safe to say is vehemently anti-Shia...) and Shaykh Muzaffar Ozak Al Jerrahi (Rahimullah)...

I am not here to defend him. If you have queries as to his teachings or beliefs I refer you to him. As for resources on psycho-spiritual matters or self-knowledge, I think you could be the staunchest Qutbi Salafi and still benefit...

See for example the ASK outline http://www.askonline.co.za/course.html

    Knowledge of the Self... http://www.askonline.co.za/module1.html

    The Prophetic Model... http://askonline.co.za/module2.html

    Unitive World-view/ Integrated Path... http://www.askonline.co.za/module3.html

Out of curiosity... Are the majority of users/mods from the UK? Is there a strong Deobandi (as opposed to non-subcontinental mainstream Ahnaf) presence here?

    Wa Salaam

    Assalamulikum,

From what I know, Shaykh Fadhullah Haeri was born shia but is now a sunni, although he is still gentle to all people that call themselves muslims. And so what is if hes name is Haeri, Muwaiyya I suppose you are the type of person like that Ihlan Zaheer dude who claims people are shia just because they have in your opinion shia orinetated names. Anyway thats all I know about this shakyh, I cannot say if he is a good scholar or not or if he is on proper haq or not, but all I can say is he seems to be good from what I have heard from others and read abt him.

Thankyou for the clarification dear brother. I am not attacking the shaykh or those who follow or listen to him, i just heard he is a shia, from the clarification and replies here, then, i think he has 'changed' or he was a sunni after all.

Thankyou for this information, might have cleared some points.

I think, most members come from 'all walks of life' and this board is full of 'different' colours. I wouldnt use the word 'strong', but i would say, we are all 'middle' people here.

as our fellow 'human' brother said; "Live as brothers or die as fools" Martin Luther King.

Hope this clears everything about him, and i think the advice, to 'talk to him face to face' is the best option in anything.!

No i don't think people are shia just because they have shia sounding names.
