Shaykh is quite strict and straight-up. He will not beat around the bush (as some unbearded brothers discovered when we went to meet him in Saharanpur). His knowledge is incredible. However, he is now looking a lot frailer.

May Allah grant us all the ability to take advantage of him and give him a healthy, long life.

    why do you ask??

sheikh sahib is an imam, mujtahid, muhaddith e azam of this era, great person, wali of Allah, extremely pious. you wont find many people who deny that fact.

anything that is not in accordance with shariah and skeikh sahib is aware of it he will tell you so. each person has his own relationship with him. very few are close to him (meaning he shares his private talks with him).

he has had many dreams of the prophet saw and other big muhaddith. most of these experiences he doesnt talk about. put it this way, generally if he needs the answer to something he either gets it from his books or he see's it via his thrid eye. (enought said)

he is a sahib e kashf - or call it ilham. because some of the knowledge he gets is on an academic level and not merely conformative to what me and you regard as kashf.

his health fluctuates alot, now a days its good, last year was very bad. black magic has taken its toll on him, but he is a fighter. very very tough man. doesnt show it but only he knows what he is going through. close people to him share that pain but the general masses dont see it.

i was with him in ramzan and he mentioned something which i thought about sharing with you on your blocked tableeghi elders thread.

hate the mistake not the person commiting the mistake. - sorry to go off topic but you need to asses each of your posts before you press submit. that particular bad quality in the people you know isnt found in all tableeghis, so to label it as a tableeghi bad quality is wrong, albeit many tableeghis might be in the wrong but not all are. today you may have respect for your elders, you are not guaranteed that respect unless its the will of Allah.

May Allah grant me sincere repentence, and i hope you see the wrongs in your wordings.

    Salams

we can easily see the waqar in his eyes

though he cant move without chair, but the power in his looks is enough for anyone to bend infront of him (out of fear, respect what ever may be)

dont remember how many times i said it, but i sat in his dars in mazahir uloom

though he has a black magic on him, i think its only he who can bear it

i think you hit the nail on the head, iv seen big time scholars who loose the bottle to go and sit in front of him. iv seen a person who has written books and is pretty well known all over india, in ramzan he was visiting sheikh and even he was bricking it. one time he was in my room and a khadim came to tell him that sheikh shahib is calling him and he was running around like a headless chicken. he did tayamum and then ran towards sheikhs room, all his even though sheikh is on good terms with him and likes him alot.

Mashallah Shaykh Yunus's stay in Masjid e Quba when he was here for 24 hours was ajeeb - pity i had to go work the next day. Very strict indeed on sunnah and takes to task those who neglect it.

This was a genuine enquiry as I have never met the Shaykh (DB) and someone mentioned that in terms of his Fiqh he is very much like Shah Ismael Shaheed (RA)...does anyone know about that?

he is a mujtahid imam, well and truely. he doesnt come in the public eye much nor write books, tends to travel less too so its not obvious to the laymen and to some scholars what level sheikh sahib is on. he gets some criticism mostly from some scholars who dont know him well, maybe seen him a few times, talked to people who have seen him do certain things but have no idea how much he is clued up in his ilm.

he has nearly a thousand books i think in his room, about ten shelves stacked to the ceiling, each self has two sides, so books on both sides, each shelf is about 2.5-3ft wide, as well as that he has loads of books in cupboards (no idea how many but those cupboards are huge). he knows where each and everybook is kept and in which order, he is reported to have read them not once but many times over.

ill give you a prime example of his level of knowledge. he has memorised fadail e amal, not only by hadith, but chain and commentary, not by 1 imam or hadith scholar but by all 4 schools and within them groups of ulema who differed, he will give you names too.

one time in ramadhan a big alim who himself has khadims was reading fadail e ramadhan, he missed the word (waasta) from the translation and hadhrat picked up on it. hadhrat himself was praying tasbeeh. He said the translation is wrong. We were all stumped thinking sheikh zakariya made a mistake in the translation??. The reader then shamedly said it says waasta in brackets.

thats just 1 book. only Allah knows about the rest.

so when he disagrees with the jamhoor ulema on certain issues i think he has a right to because his ilm justifies that. people who dont know him or who understand his level of ilm speak ill of him or at least criticise him heavily in this sense.

its specific about the sheikh, its what he taught us....bigtime ulemas and idiots like me. i shared it, because he is in need of being told, and its my sheikhs teaching.
