Default Praying salah in a disabled toilet etc.

I know we are not allowed to pray namaz in dirty places, and places like on graves and in a camel pens etc.
But what about doing namaz in a disabled toilet unit? I had nowhere at work to pray yesterday so I laid my janamaz down in the disabled toilet room and did namaz. Is that ok?
the room is about 2 metres by 2.5 metres in area and is hardly used. I made sure that all my limbs remained on the janamaz. The actual toilet unit is in one corner of the room.

    Welcome to the forum.

    Considering the underlined statement...

How is praying in the disable Toilet any different in your mind to praying in a normal Toilet?

    Assalamu alaikum,

I think what the brother means is a toilet for the disabled. Anyway I asked this question to one mufti and he said that it is technically permissible as long as the body part does not come in contact with anything impure during the salaat. In fact it says in Beheshti Zewar that if there is a piece of cloth with impurity on one corner and pure on the remaining portions then it will be permissible to pray salaat on the pure portion. There are other examples given as well - I suggest if the brother is interested he can check it out. But overall it will be permissible as long as there is contact with najis. Also if the pure cloth is placed over an impure ground it will be permissible to pray on top of the pure cloth.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that brother, as long as you read the dua for the toilet to protect you from jinns because toilets are usually their dwelling place and as long your praying on a clean section and facing the qibla(people who do black magic may worship jinns in the toilet)

    walikum asalam,

Yes, you have understood correctly mashallah. I should maybe have said a toilet for the disabled.
Many thanks for your answer. I feel relieved now. I may prayer there again if no other rooms are free.
Regarding that cloth issue if a part of the cloth is impure: my local alim said you can only prayer on a cloth like that if you can lift the pure part of the cloth and the impure part does not move at the same time.

What places can we definitely not prayer at regardless of whether we are standing on a clean janamaz? I guess one of them is a grave right? e.g. Even if i am standing on a pure janamaz i can never do namaz on top of a grave, right?
    Any other places??

    salaam

brother you should clarify your answer with the ulama ? we read dua for protection from the evil within a toilet area when we walk in, because with all the evils associated with intenga area.

we seek forgiveness from allah when we walk out of the toilet, because
we are not allowed to engage in rememberence of allah therin...

it would be far better for you to pray outside the building if no place is found inside.
am sure ther is a small secluded place outside somewhere ?

i have always been told, you cant pray in a toilet.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure you can not even take the name of Allah in the toilet, or read Qur'aan, much less pray in it!

In fact you're not even allowed to answer salaam in the toilet, you should just clap your hands so the person knows you are there.

And to the original questioner, is it really a good idea to ask for fatwas on matter like this from random people that you don't know on the internet?

You can ask some 'ulama of your local area, or if they don't exist, ask here: jamiat.co.za
