    Default Praying jamaat at Masjid

    Salams bros and sisters

I just wanted to ask ppl what should i do regarding this problem. My Masjid isnt that far away from my apartment. Its like half a mile. To go there, pray jamaat, and come back eats up about 45 mins to and hour (walking there door to door takes bout 30 minutes). I always go when i can do but im also a 4th year Dental Student and ive got loads of work to do and revision/study for exams especially at the minute. Of course sometimes im at Uni during the day so i dont get time to go all the way to mosque so i just pray in the prayer room.

But is it a valid excuse to pray at home rather than at jamaat if ive got study to do? Especially since theres like 2 hours between each Jamaat prayer at the moment and ill be just travelling to a fro all the time. I love jamaat but i also dont wanna do harm to my studies either.

    Dear Brother, Assalaamoalaikum

Your post indicates that you try to say all your prayers. Alhamdulillah. That is already taqwa for Allah(SWT). Do keep it up, Insh'Allah.

However, since one gets more rewards for praying in jama'a, do try to pray in jama'a as often as possible - for example, for fajr and esha, if possible. Do not leave jama'a completely, because praying in jama'a is crucial to our Deen. The taqwa that you have will guide you, no doubt, Insh'Allah.

    Brotherly yours
    farook
