    Default ANSWERED: Does wudhu break when touching a non-mahram woman?

    Salam Calaykum
    I know if a girl who isn't your mother or sister touches breaks your wudu?
    I try to keep my wudu, but sometimes it happens accidently.
    So I want to know does they break your wudu if was accidently?
    [3] Neither your relatives nor your children will benefit you on the Day of Resurrection (against All‚h). He will judge between you. And All‚h is the All-Seer of what you do.

    Narrated Ma'qil ibn Yasar

    The Prophet said, "If anyone says three times in the morning, 'I seek refuge in Allah, the Hearer and Knower, from the accursed devil', and recites three verses at the end of surat al-Hashr, Allah will put in charge of him seventy thousand angels who will invoke blessings on him till the evening, and if he dies that day he will die as a martyr. If anyone says them in the evening he will be in that rank."

    Tirmidhi and Darimi transmitted it, Tirmidhi saying this is a gharib tradition.

    If you're Shafi, yes.

    If you aren't, no.

    As Salaamu Alaykum,

    Those major scholars of Islaam who maintain that the wudhu' of a man is broken by touching a woman are;

    Abdullah Ibn Mas'ood, Abdullah ibn 'Umar, Az-Zuhri, Imaam Shaafi'ee and his companions, Zayd ibn Aslam and others.

    This is also in accordance to Imaam Shafi'ee.

    Those who maintain that it does not nullify the wudhu' are;

    'Ali ibn Abi Taalib, Ibn 'Abbas, 'Ataa', Taawoos, Abu Haneefah, Abu Yusuf, Ibn Taymiyyah, Imaam Tabari, Mujaahid and others.

    This is in accordance to Imaam Abu Hanifa.

    There is of course a third stance; touching a woman with shahwah (desire) breaks the wudhu.

    This difference arises due to the different interpretation of this Ayah:

    "...But if you are ill or on a journey or any of you comes from answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands..."
    (Al-Ma'idah 5:6)
