Maulana was sleeping while they were driving back from a series of programmes in Interior Sind. On their way to Punjab, near Bahawalpur , about 5 people attacked his car. They threw a piece of log on the car so that it stops. Out of the five attackers, three had militia uniforms on with black sneakers, while the other two were in civilian dress.

Right when the car stopped , the three militia clad ones attacked the car from the front, and the sides. One of them jumped on to the windshield, and fired directly at Maulana but Alhamdulillah, miraculously he was safe. The one on the right tried to shoot at the driver , that's when the driver got two bullets, but he kept driving, they turned the car around and drove back to a safe place where the driver was given treatment. The assailants kept firing in the mean time with automatic weapons.

Alhamdulillah Maulana is now back safely, and the driver is in good condition too.

Make dua for his protections. WALLAH ! I have never seen a person as derwaish and devoted as Maulana ILYAS sahib in my life. This is the kind of person who leads a jamaat of thousands, yet, there's no sign of Takabbur or any harshness in him.
