Assalaamu 'Alaikum. Does anyone have any information on Moulana Abdullah Kapodrawee Sahab (DB), the Amir of the Jami'yyatul Ulama Canada? Jazaakallaah.

he is amir of my madressa jamia haqqaniyah,kathor dist surat.his speeches r very good.there r 2 books in urdu about his speeches available.his khanqah is in his masjid in every ramzan in kapodra,ANKELESHAR,DIST BHARUCH.

I know who he is and have visited him and he lives close to our place when he is in Canada. He usually leaves before Ramadhan for India and stays there for several months before coming back.

In my opinion (from what I can tell - I could be wrong) the ameer of JU Canada most probably does not have any real power or say. It is probably more of a title for respect.

Unlike many other Indian ulema he is very much into books and his Arabic is very strong. He has a lot of knowledge. He also does not sit down without fikr. He has fikr for the general people and the youth. He was showing us many good English books which he brought over from England so that the ulema here could go over them order more and put them in the masjid so peopel could read. I discovered several good English books from his collection.

He's a very knowledgeable alim and highly respected by the ulema ikram. He has nisbat with two Naqshbandi Mujaddidi mashaikh. Both coming from two different chains from the line of Hazrat Fazal Ali Shah Qureshi rahmatullah alayhi.

He showed me the book Essential Islamic Knowledge which is a Persian book called Mala Budda Minhu and is by Qadi ThanaUllah Panipati, translated into excellent English by Shaykh Yusuf Talal DeLorenzo. It talks about Hanafi fiqh mainly but quotes the opinions of the other imams all over the place for many issues. It covers Aqida, Taharah, Salaat, Jazanah, Fasting, Zakaat, and Hajj. It also has a section on various aspects of Islamic life. I found the book very beneficial and Shaykh DeLorenzo added very beneficial footnotes.

Another book is The Book of Purification which is by Moulana Ibrahim Memon of Buffalo and gives extensive hadith proofs behind all aspects of Taharah in Hanafi fiqh. I don't have the book yet but I have it on my list to get it next time someone is coming from Buffalo. However I did look through it and it is excellent.

He also had Adab al-Mufrad also translated by Shaykh Yusuf Talal but I already saw knew about that and another good translation is already available online.

He also had many books good quality English books published by UK Islamic Academy and many were by Moulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi.

Sheikh Talal's translation of Al-Adab Al-Mufrad is way better than the one available online (if you are referring to Ustadha Aisha Bewley's one).

The reason is not really the translation itself, but the additional benefit that comes along with Sheikh Talal's version - he goes on to show which other collection of ahadeeth each ahadeeth in the book was mentioned. i.e. "this hadeeth was also recorded in Bukhari's Sahih, Muslim, Nasai", or "This hadeeth appears not to have been recorded in any major collection", etc. Plus the book contains some commentary as well, though very minor. Still, in terms of deriving benefit from the Al-Adab Al Mufrad, I believe the hardcopy of Sheikh Talal's version would score much ahead of the available online version.

Maulana came to Zambia in 2006 for our hifz Jalsa. Mashallah great personality. He told the graduating huffaz that your hifz should be so 'pakku' that if someone awakens you from your sleep and asks you to read, you can!
