Default Poetry - Sarfaraz Khan Safdar & Ahmad Rada Khan

    Assalam o alaykum,

Ahmad Rada Khan Sahib Barelwi wrote some poetry in Hadaiq Bakhshish; Imam Ahl al-Sunnah Sarfaraz Khan Safdar retorted it in the same tone and style which is as follows:

In black is by Ahmad Rada and red is reply by Mawlana Sarfaraz.

We prostrated our head towards the Rawdhah, so what you have to do with. Our hearts were prostrating O Najdi, so what you have to do with.

If you became polytheist, so what you have to do with. You became the slave of stomach, so what we have to do with.

We said sitting and standing ‘Ya Rasul Allah!’ asking his help, so what you have to do with.

You misinterpreted the Qur’an and Hadith and was cursed with excommunication, so what we have to do with.

Our king regarded us his salve (Abd) saying ‘Ya Ibadi’ (O my slaves!), so what you have to do with.

You bowed before ones other than the Creator of the universe, so what we have to do with.

When did he address the slaves of the Deo with this title? Neither you were of him in past nor you are in present, so what you have to do with.

You preferred polytheism and innovation and left Tawhid and Sunnah behind, so what we have to do with.

The Najdi is dying of grudge why we revere him; this is our religion, so what you have to do with.

You forgot the verse of the Qur’an 'iyyaka nasta’in', so what we have to do with.

What we have to do with the slaves of Deo, we are the slaves (Abd) of the Mustafa, then what you have to do with

We all are slaves (Abd) of Allah, so what we have to do with you if you are slave (Abd) of Mustafa.

    Assalam o alaykum,

This is a batil tafsir of the Qur'an by Ahmad Rada Khan Sahib Barelwi of the following ayat.

Say [that God declares]: 'O My servants (Ibadi) who have been prodigal against their souls! Do not despair of God's mercy…'

    He said:

God, Exalted is He, has given his servants respite, out of His bounty, up to their last breath, and He says to them, 'Do not despair of My mercy; even if you came back to Me in your last breath, I would receive you.'

    He said:

This verse is the most far reaching in conveying the compassion (ishfāq) shown by God, Exalted is He, to His servants; because, in accordance with His knowledge, He does not deprive them of that which He bestows on others, rather He showers mercy upon them to the point that He admits them to the very quintessence of [His] kindness ('ayn al-karam), by virtue of [His] eternal remembrance of them.

It was related of the angel Gabriel ('a) that he heard Abraham ('a) pray, 'O You Who are most generous in pardoning!' Then Gabriel ('a) said to him, 'O Abraham! Do you know what the generosity of His pardon ('afw) [implies]?' He answered, 'No, O Gabriel.' He continued, 'It is that when He pardons a misdeed, He converts it into a good deed.'

    Then Sahl said:

Witness this of me: it is part of my religion that I do not disown the sinners among the nation of Muḥammad (ṣ), nor the wicked, the murderers, the adulterers or the thieves, for truly, the extent of the generosity, bounty, and beneficence that God, Exalted is He, shows, especially to the nation of Muḥammad (ṣ), cannot be fathomed.

    (From Tafsir al-Tustari)
Say [that God declares]: ‘O My servants who have been prodigal against their own souls, do not despair (read taqnitū, taqnatū, or taqnutū), do not give up hope, of God’s mercy. Truly God forgives all sins, for those who repent from idolatry. Truly He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

    (From Tafsir al-Jalalayn)
So according to Ahmad Rada it would read as, 'Say [that Nabi declares]' instead of 'Say [that God declares]'

Now according to Ahmad Rada Khan Barelwi it is not Allah but in fact Holy Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) who is referring to us as Ibadi. Ibadi (O My Servants) is being said by the Holy Prophet and not Allah that is why according to Ahmad Rada Khan & co. it is permissible to keep such names as Abd al-Nabi, Abd al-Rasul, etc.
