Assalaamualaikum, Well I just want to know is this information correct that mufti taqi usman sahab has given permission for watching videos (islamic).If this information correct then what is the view of other scholars like MUFTI EBRAHIM DESAI,MUFTI NAVALURRAHMAAN SAB and other great big scholars

Shaykh al-Islam Hadhrat Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Sahib [db] answered "Is Television Permissible in Islam? Also from the aspect of Photography. Is it Halal?" as follows:

"The images appearing on live programs or recorded programs on television are not the pictures in the strict sense envisaged in the Ahadith of the Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, unless they are printed in a durable form on paper or on any other object. But the basic reason why Muslims are advised not to keep TV sets in their homes is that most of the programs broadcast on the TV channels contain impermissible elements."

What needs to be kept in mind (if one follows Hadhrat Shaykh-ul-Islam's opinion) is that what is haram to look at/hear in real life, is haram in videos. e.g. non-mahram females, music, nudity and other such stuff.

Having Ikhtilaf has nothing to do with respect or disrespect, both sides have their scholarly evidences. And from the practical aspect the difference is very minimal, because majority (upto 90% or even more?) of video material doesn't even fullfil the conditions set by Hadhrat Mufti Muhammad Taqi Sahib [db] for being Halal and is consequently Haram according to both sides. Just protecting yourself from that much would be a great step towards wilayat in our times.

Assalamualaikum,

Mufti Taqi Usmani is a great scholar of our time and I have great respect for him as does everyone in the community i live in.
We should never dis such great scholars. He has hikmah we do not. I understand where he is coming from completely, on this matter.
Inshallah, we will all 'see the light' one day soon.
Moderation in everything is the key. I have now learnt, there is a way we can be happy in this life, even though its temporary. Islam teaches us the middle path, not too extreme, yet not too lenient.
May Alah reward my husband for teaching me this. We have the tafseer of Mufti Muhammed Shafi (r.a.)'s Surah Fatiha and Al Baqarah at home, and it makes so much sense. (I have only read parts of it yet, inshallah intend to read it all one day). As you all are aware, he is Mufti Taqi's father. May Allah grant him jannatul firdous - aameen.

Im still very much confuse what should i do......I LIKE TO WATCH VIDEOS but as i was heard this is haraam i contol myself watching it.But as I heard that this is permissible , still Im confuse on the fatwas given by MUFTI nawal-ur-rahmaan sb and mufti ebrahim desai sab
