Just wondering if any one you have any suggestions that they could explore. Suggestions of activities, facilities or other forms of assistance that have been put into practise in your own communities that were very beneficial or those that you think are lacking in our communities would be welcome.

Broadly speaking, they should either be:
promoting Islam, Islamic awareness and practices.
serving the Muslim community by providing facilities to improve lives in both worlds
    connecting people to Allah.

    All suggestions are welcome.

    Jazkumullah khayr for your time.

Preparing and distributing meals to the poor? That's what the sisters here usually do.

Voluntary creche/ babysitting service? The sisters could look after Muslim and non-Muslim babies alike. It would benefit the sisters and the community, and they could inspire love of Allah and His Messegnger in the babies inshaAllah.

Visiting old women? Sometimes old people just want someone to sit with them and listen to their stories In this way a person can also discuss with them about Islam etc, and by helping them out with house chores, show the aspect of khidmat in Islam.

I like that one too as it would promote social cohesion, but there would be all sorts of complications as the law would only allow qualified and OFSTED registered babysitters. And the madrasah would also have to become an OFSTED registerd centre which is quite a long and complicated process (although it is are on the way). But I still like that one and will put it forward to the sisters.

as it would be carried out by sisters, I would rather suggest activites that were not too outdoorsy.

    Jzk, keep them coming...

    No poor people?! Alhamdulillah!

    OK....

Visiting sick/ old people and helping to clean their houses?
Sewing or cooking stuff to sell (cupcakes or pretty embroidered head-scarves or whatever) - then spending the proceeds on some tins of paint, and painting the interior of public buildings like libraries etc.?
One sister could go to a jewelry-making course (with beads) and teach the others, and they could sell gorgeous hand-made beaded jewelry (or get the brothers to sell) and buy something publicly beneficial with the proceeds, like a water fountain.
A mural somewhere? Islamically-appropriate, of course.
They could collect large old tin/plastic containers and paint them/ decorate them and set them up around town as attractive trash cans.
They could set up an animal sanctuary for all the stray/ injured animals that bother your wealthy citizens =)
They could organize a recycling center.
    Plant trees.
Set up a weekly community newspaper (funded by friendly local tradespeople's advertisements). The sisters could contribute nice interesting Islamic articles, poetry, art etc., and could interview other sisters etc.
Something which might really benefit your community: a website promoting the community, its businesses and attractions and wildlife and stuff.

Something that went down a storm round in our city was a class for ladies(by ladies) on how to perform ghusl for a female who has passed away.

Ive been told it was a good turnout and people were happy that is was done. Normally, when a lady passes away,it falls on the shoulders of a few women and so it was suggested by me that a class(es) is conducted for women on this very important issue. The turnout like I said was good with a good age range of ladies attending.

might be something you can do as it is obviously Islamic but there is also a need for it.
