on top he began with 786...

Interesting, can someone shed some light on it? Does anyone have an English version of part of Zia ul Quloob?

    Asalaamualakum,
786 is Biddah (innovation), it has no significance in Islam. Astaghfirullah.
I know alot of peopl disagree with ths but I look at it as the prophet did not say that these numbers are significant, so for me they are not, nor has it been writen in the Quran. Biddah, is one of the reasons the muslim ummah has deviated look at Suffism, that is Biddah and look how people sing Nasheeds with music now with the excuse that suffism is allown. May Allah SWT guide us to the true straight path that will lead us to Jannah-tul-Firdous.Ameen.

    Nothing to do with Sunnah.

If Hadhrat Haji Saheb (RA) did start his letters with 786, it makes no difference.

I remember i was reading Haji Imdad-ullah Muhajir Makki(rah) saying to the Ulema in front of him, that if i do anything which contradicts Shariah ( or sunnah, cant remember properly) then stop me, for I will on the day of Judgement will tell ALLAH subhana taala that they were ulema but they didnt stop me..

    There you go!!!

Whenever Haji Sahib would discuss a question of Haqaa-iq (spiritual realities) in the presence of Ulama, he would say:
“Brothers, I am unaware. You are the Ulama. I have explained whatever has crossed my heart. If there is anything in conflict with the Kitaab (Qur’aan) and Sunnah, don’t be inhibited. Inform me. On the Day of Qiyaamah I shall say:
‘I had told them, but they had not informed me.’ ”
