Default Living in the West : Dress code issue in the job

I have some religious friends and relatives living in the UK. When I come to the UK , I see them dressed in
Sunnah clothes in day to day life. However, later I was informed that in the offices they are not allowed to wear
sunnah dress. They are forced to wear official uniforms and other western dress.

Is this rule widespread in the UK and other western countries ? Do you know brothers who have managed to get permission to wear sunnah dress even in the job ?

Personally, I know that in the UK universities the students are allowed to wear sunnah dress. However, job-sectors
    may not be that liberal.

Anyway, I would like to know your experience.

Very few employers will be prepared to allow it to be honest, though I do know of some Muslims who wear Sunnah (including the Imamah) at work eventhough they have highly paid office jobs.

the knowledge of things not known to him"

generally speaking when doing office work you can what you want. jobs that have their own uniform are strict but sometimes allow things like wearing a topi as long as it blends in with the uniform. most govt jobs are also relaxed as to attire

Really? I know someone very well who is 2 years away from being a consultant in the NHS and has always been allowed to wear his thowb and topi as an NHS doctor. He says the trick is to go to the interview dressed as you would. That way they know what to expect.

    Very true.

I personally know many brothers in various professions (e.g. Principal IT Consultant, Managing Executive, Doctor, Java Developer, IT Manager, Technician, Architect, Accountant, Teacher, Admin officer, etc.). They all wear the full Sunnah attire (including amamah) to their London based offices.

Masha'Allah, one of them earns more than Gordon Brown! He’ll leave his office / meetings to ensure he makes every salah in jamaat. Clear evidence of rizq minAllah.

Thumbs up Re: Living in the West : Dresscode issue in the job

These stories are really reassuring to read. Each and every blessed sunnah is an attracting noor and a means of protection against certain evils. Plus you get the ajar of shuhadaa with every sunnah you practice in the time of fitnah and fasaad.
