In my opinion it's best to stick to looking for knowledge in our own books rather than relying and aligning ourselves with the catholic kuffar whenever a modern issue comes up.

Saying it's common sense isn't good enough. Do children/kids/teens have enough common sense to decide what's right and what's wrong?

Introducing new stuff is bida and restricting yourself from what Allah(SAW) has allowed is also bida.

Catholics say masturbation is prohibited because of a story in the bible and that they are not allowed to "spill seed", we need something solid like this before we start using our "common sense".

Alot of people are out there using their common sense to worship at people's graves and doing sajda at peoples feet, if common sense was enough why would we need islam. Allah gave us a great nehmat in form of our beloved prophet (pbuh). People should appreciate what a great favour that was.

Brother, what on earth are you going on about biddah for? Restricting yourself to what Allah has allowed? Look, with all due respect, if you do that to yourself in private, that's on you, but do not try to seek justification for your doing it. The majority of the fuqaha have deemed it impermissible and, well majority rules. No, small children do not have common sense. That is what their parents are for. But teens? Yes, teens are old enough to know the difference between right and wrong and if a teen does not know the difference, then truly the parents have failed with the amana Allah has given them. In any case, you obviously did not read what I said carefully enough to understand what I was trying to say. Letting your emotions run wild and throwing that "bida" stuff around talking about grave worshiping and such is just going to derail this thread. But alas, you did say it was your "opinion" and you're entitled to it as I'm entitled to mine. But Allah knows best.

I was merely replying to this comment. That's how bida comes about, people use their common sense instead of the qur'an and sunnah.
