Shaikh Muqbil Declared Imam Abu Hanifa a Mubtadi`?

I've heard that Shaikh Muqbil , one of the Imams of the Salafis, claimed that Imam Abu Hanifa was a deviant (Naudhubillah).

I found this document on a Salafi website that did not deny this claim. In fact, it was said that he called Imam Abu Hanifa insane.

It's in Arabic, and it is quite long, so I can't quite understand it.

I'd greatly appreciate it if a knowledgeable brother can look into the book, and see what it has to say.

Perhaps the secret beliefs of the Salafis will be revealed in doing so.

I was reading the book and stumbled across his thread. Glanced a bit through it. He wrote the book in refutation of those "fanatical" hanafis who refuse to believe he was weak in hadith and that Albani was not the first person to state such. Rather, many of the scholars of the past stated the same and he tries to prove this with chains that he authenticates.

He has collected all the statements of jarh against Abu Hanifa in this book. He cites 77 scholars showing how they were against Abu Hanifa. Not narrations only pertaining to Abu Hanifa being weak in hadith but also severely criticizing him (by citing narrations) in the field of fiqh and aqida, calling him a jahmi, murji'i, stating he holds the opinion that qur'an is created, his birth was unfortunate for islam, his death was a good thing, he was called to repent from zandaqa twice, he was cursed by the scholars, he narrates only air and false things etc.

- توبة حدثنا الفزاري قال الأوزاعي وسفيان يقولان: ما ولد في الإسلام مولود أشأم عليهم – وقال الشافعي – شر عليهم من أبي حنيفة
- قال عبد الله بن أحمد في «السنة» (ج1ص204) :
حدثني إبراهيم بن سعيد ثنا محمد بن مصعب سمعت الأوزاعي يقول : ما ولد في الإسلام مولود أشأم عليهم من أبي حنيفة
- * قال الخطيب (ج13 ص418) :
وأخبرنا ابن رزق أخبرنا ابن سلم حدثنا الأبار حدثنا الحسن بن علي حدثنا أبو توبة حدثنا سلمة بن كلثوم – وكان من العابدين ولم يكن في أصحاب الأوزاعي أحسن منه – قال: قال الأوزاعي لما مات أبو حنيفة: الحمد لله إن كان لينقض الإسلام عروة عروة
- * قال الخطيب رحمه الله (ج13 ص445) :‏
سمعت أحمد بن علي البادا يقول قال لي أبو بكر بن شاذان قال لي ‏أبو بكر ابن أبي داود: جميع ما روى أبو حنيفة من الحديث مائة ‏وخمسون حديثاً أخطأ
– أو قال غلط – في نصفها . اهـ
- ‏* قال عبد الله في «السنة» (ج1ص211) :
حدثني محمد بن أبي عتاب ثنا منصور بن سلمة الخزاعي قال سمعت حماد ابن سلمة يلعن أبا حنيفة .
قال أبو سلمة( ) وكان شعبة يلعن أبا حنيفة
- قال الشيخ: وأبو حنيفة له أحاديث صالحة وعامة ما يرويه ‏غلط وتصاحيف وزيادات في أسانيدها ومتونِها وتصاحيف في ‏الرجال وعامة ما يرويه كذلك ولم يصح له في جميع ما يرويه إلا ‏بضعة عشر حديثاً وقد روى من الحديث لعله أرْجح من ثلاثمائة ‏حديث من مشاهير وغرائب وكله على هذه الصورة، لأنه ليس ‏هو من أهل الحديث ولا يحمل على من تكون هذه صورته في ‏الحديث . ‏

By far one of the biggest polemical works dedicated to degrade the status of Abu Hanifa in the arabic language by one of the great Salafi scholars in hadith.

All the prophets a.s. Were tortured but our beloved Rasul s.a.w is still anathematized by fools
Almost all the Sahaba ikram rz.a were tortured but Hz Abubakar siddiq rz.a, Hz Umar faruqe azam rz.a, Hz Usman ghani rz.a Hz Ali rz.a etc are still vituperated by fools
Almost all A'imma e mujtahidin rh.a n A'imma e muhaddisin rh.a were tortured but Hz Imam azam rh.a imam abuyusuf rh.a imam mohammad rh.a etc are still vilified by fools
Almost all great ulma e haq were tortured but Hz Shah Waliullah rh.a shah ismaeel shahid rh.a, Hz molana Rashid Ahmad gangohi rh.a, Hz Molana Mohammad Qasim sb nanotvi rh.a, Hz Molana Ashraf Ali thanwi rh.a, Hz Molana Zakarya sb rh.a, Hz Molana Khalil Ahmad sb rh.a, Hz Molana Ilyas sb rh.a etc are still condemned by fools
even ulma e haq of Modern age like Molana Tariq Jamil sb are critized by fools.
Though we have always proved these fools wrong yet they're presumptuous not to leave their ill propensity.
May Allah swt guide them.

Ibn Taymiyyah (rah) writes About Imam Abu Hanifah (Rah):

"There is no doubt regarding Imam Abu Hanifa's (Rah) knowledge. People later attributed many lies to Imam Abu Hanifa (Rah), which were all untrue. The aim of such writings was to taint Imam Abu Hanifa (Rah)"

Sufyan al-Thawri praised Abu Hanifa when he said: "We were in front of Abu Hanifa like small birds in front of the falcon,"

Abu Hanifa had his enemies. `Abdan said that he heard Ibn al-Mubarak say: "If you hear them mention Abu Hanifa derogatively then they are mentioning me derogatively. In truth I fear for them Allah's displeasure."

- Ibn Dawud al-Khuraybi: "Among the people [of learning] there are plenty of enviers and ignorant ones concerning Abu Hanifa."

Bishr al-Hafi, he said: "None criticizes Abu Hanifa except an envier or an ignoramus".

Muqbil said in (لمقترح في أجوبة أسئلة المصطلح)

ما ألفاظ الجرح والتعديل فـ«الرفع والتكميل» للكنوي(6) مع الحذر من تعصبه، وهو حنفي جامد يتعصب لأبي حنيفة، ويحمل على شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية، وعلى الشوكاني، وغيرهما من أئمة أهل السنة. ماذا تستفيد من كتابه؟ تستفيد ألفاظ الجرح والتعديل، وماذا يعني بها العلماء؟ وتستفيد بيان مقاصدهم، أما حملاته على أئمة الهدى فلا تقبلها، وهكذا ترويجه وتزيينه للمذهب الحنفي، فإن المذهب الحنفي يعتبر أبعد المذاهب الثلاثة عن كتاب الله، وعن سنة رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم- لست أقصد أنه ليس له صلة بالكتاب والسنة، أقصد أنه أبعد المذاهب الثلاثة عن الكتاب والسنة، حتى قال بعض العلماء: إذا أردت أن تصيب الحق فخالف أبا حنيفة، والحافظ الإمام ابن أبي شيبة -رحمه الله تعالى- ذكر جزءا كبيرا من المجلد الرابع من كتاب «المصنف» فيما خالف فيه أبوحنيفة الحديث، وأبوحنيفة عالم من علماء المسلمين، ولكنه التقليد فكن على حذر من تقليده، ومن تقليد غيره، فقد أدى التعصب ببعضهم إلى أن يكذب على رسول الله-صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم- من أجل التعصب لأبي حنيفة فقد قيل لبعضهم: ألا ترى مذهب محمد بن إدريس كيف قد انتشر في البلاد، قال: لأخزينه، حدثني فلان عن فلان عن النبي -صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم- أنه قال: «ليأتين رجل من أمتي وهو أضر عليهم من إبليس، اسمه محمد بن إدريس، وأبوحنيفة سراج أمتي وأبوحنيفة سراج أمتي وأبوحنيفة سراج أمتي?» فتعصب شديد عند الأتباع، وننصح كل أخ أن يرجع إلى كتاب الله وسنة رسول الله -صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم-.

وفق الله الجميع إلى ما يحبه ويرضاه. وصلى اللهم على محمد وعلى آله وصحبه وسلم.

In short: Abd al-Hayy Luknawi is guilty of partisanship and the Hanafi school is the most distant school compared with the other 3 schools from the Qur'an and the sunnah until some of the scholars said: if you want acquire the truth, then go against the opinion of Abu Hanifa.

However, at the same page he warns about Ibn Hazm, that while we can benefit from his books, his attacks on other scholars should not be accepted, since sometimes he charges imaam maalik or abu Hanifa?!? Very strange since what else has he done in his book on abu hanifa except defaming him by quoting harsh statements of other scholars? Or was his purpose only to highlight what the scholars have said about him and not his personal opinion? Then why not narrate the positive statements about the Imam? Seems far-fetched since this is not mentioned in the introduction but let the Salafis themselves answer.

ثم أيضا يحذر من تهجمه على العلماء، التهجم الذي فيه مجازفة غير مقبول من أبي محمد بن حزم -رحمه الله تعالى- فربما تحامل على الإمام مالك، أو على أبي حنيفة، أو على غيره من الأئمة. نستفيد من كتابه، أما تحامله فلا. وكذلك لا يعتمد عليه في الأسماء والصفات فإنه أول كثيرا منها

Abu HANIFA (ra) DIED for the cause of Allah, soooo many people attended his janaaza, and these trash halfbaked "scholars" dare to degrade him?!
Bring me one of their "sheikhs" that devoted his life to Islam like Abu Hanifa?!

Salafis.... you're bringing your own sect to disgrace by your foul mouth(as usual!)

What I always liked about Abu Hanifa, is his "issue" with shias


Shias were always afraid of confronting Abu Hanifa since he knew EXACTLY how to entrap them
