Default Bashariyyat of Holy Messenger - Pir Mehr Ali

    Assalam o alaykum,

Pir Mehr Ali Shah Golri (may Allah have mercy on him), when asked about the Basharriyat of our Holy Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), said,

"I am not capable to mediate and judge between the people of knowledge and esteem, but complying with the valued order, I am compelled to put forward what I have present in my mind.

My master! There is no doubt that it is necessary for the believers to remember the Holy Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) as a token of respect and reverence. Now, we have to see whether the word bashar, according to the Arabic language, contains the meaning of greatness and perfection or the meaning of abhorrence [lowness/disparagement/despise]. In my humble view, the word bashar contains perfection as per its meaning and application."

nice masha'Allah, it's sad to see his grandsons going astray nowadays. Like pir nasiruddin used to curse syyidina Muawiyah Radhi Allahu anh, and died after destroying the graves just to make his parking lot, but Pir sahib Rahimahullah was a true wali

    Assalam o alaykum,

On the other hand, according to 'Hakim al-Ummah' of Barelwis Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Gujarati, the word bashar and certain verses of the Qur'an are against the status of Holy Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace). He writes in Ja al-Haq,

"It implies that the verses like 'Allah‘s hand is over their hands' (48:10) and 'The example of His light is that of a niche' (24:35), etc. which are seemingly not proper for the Highness of Allah Most High are mutashabihat (ambiguous, whose definite meanings are unknown). Similarly, the verses like 'I am but a bashar (human being)' (18:110), etc, which are apparently against the status of the Holy Prophet are mutashabihat; therefore it is wrong to argue on the basis of the apparent meaning of such verses."

    Assalaam'aaleykum!

    Very informative, Saad Bhai!

But I have got one question - Who else held this view that ‘bashar’ is impudent and has meaning of lowness/disparagement/despise or beralwis alone in this, as usual?

I amazed by this. Do you think the average Barelwi supports this view? I know the Malauna is one of the biggest Barelwi Maulana ever, but still... i know many Barelwis, and i dont think they would deny the fact that Rasulallah was a human. They rather say he was noor AND bashar, with noor meaning physical light. While i know this view is incorrect, its on a whole another level to deny the fact that Rasulallah was bashar.

    Assalam o alaykum,

What makes you think that Barelwis won't support what is written in Ja al-Haq. It is one of the most reliable book of Barelwis, also available in English on their various websites. Barelwis are a sect most extreme in blind following every word of their scholars. They don't ask any questions. However, this is what one of Barelwi layman posted on their forum:

"It is stated in Tafseer Noor ul-Irfan (by Mufti Ahmad Yaar Khan Naeemi) that the Prophets have been called human beings (like us) in the holy Qur'an only by the following three:
    1. Allah azza wajal
    2. The Prophets themselves
    3. Kuffars

Nowhere in the holy Qur'an has any believer addressed his/her Prophet as "human being like us".

Which begs the question - which category does ibn Arabi (and his wahabi/deobandi ilks) belong: The Allah, a Prophet or a kuffar?"

Look at their reasoning! Simply absurd yet hilarious.

Now we ask the Barelwis: Cite from major 'aqida books of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamah where Holy Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) has been referred to as 'physical' (hissi) Nur. Key word is 'physical' - don't bring forth any quotes that only mention Nur.

I wasnt talking about every Barelwi, i think most of the believe in what Muft Ahmed Yaar Khan says, but many which i personally know dont believe in this issue. I guess they aren't aware what their leaders said about this issue. They usually say to me we believe Rasulallah to be noor and bashar.

Maybe its even better they arent aware what their leaders are saying...

I agree with brother slm. You certainly can't generalize barelwi's into 1 camp. Many of them do not even know what their elders have written and do not even know the distinctive aqida points of the Barelwi Ulama.
And if he were to ask for a gentle lady in marriage, he would be refused, and when he leaves the world it does not miss him, and if he goes out, his going out is not noticed, and if he falls sick, he is not attended to, and if he dies, he is not accompanied to his grave.

    Assalam o alaykum,

I was thinking about this and I personally believe that laymen can be divided into two categories.

    1. Those illiterate laymen who know next to nothing. They are not aware of A.B.C of anything. All they know is Ghiarwin, 'Urs and Teejas.

    2. Those laymen who are educated and read material of their scholars; listen to their lectures, etc. It will be hard to find any amongst this category who will differ with what is written in their authentic books. Most laymen who frequent the web, forums, etc. will be under this category.
