    Question Needs of the community

Just a question - what occupations is there a need for in the muslim community especially specific to muslim women?....what is there a great need for? excluding doctors, midwife, nurses.

law (sometimes parts of a full story with a lawyer needs to be kept confidential), counselor (that might count in health though, psych).

I think the occupations you are excluding are the main ones.

AT TALIBAH,you definately not doing medicine? Is that a final decision?

It would be ideal if you could go for an occupation where you could serve the Muslim community, women in particular. I would suggest something along the lines of social, educational, psychological studies etc. A niqab wearing sister I know is studying counselling. Another is doing child psychology. Another is studying interdisciplinary human studies. Think of women or children, living in the UK (or wherever you live) who require a service and then look for a course that will qualify you to help fulfil that service.

Examples of groups who may need help are:

Women who are sitting at home looking after kids going a bit mental,

Unmarried and facing a forced marriage

    Victims of domestic violence,

Women who find barriers when seeking education and employment due to cultural and religious values (not unlike yourself)

    Women with mental/emotional difficulties

Women trying to set up a home business

Elderly women facing the difficulties of old age (loneliness, care, illnesses)

Women who require counselling for social problems

Unmarried women who cannot find a husband

Women with finance problems that you could assist

Children- education. There’ll never be enough good Muslim teachers.

    Extra-curricular activities for children

    Children in foster care
    etc.....

There are lots more possibilities. But the ideas above are just a few that swim around in my head and are influenced by my own line of work. Think of what appeals to you from the above (or other options) and then find a course suitable that will give you the necessary skills for that. Alternatively, you could study to acquire some business skills that would enable you to set up your own business one day. Then you would be your own boss and could wear your niqab without worrying about what your colleagues would think.

May Allah guide you to what’s right for you in both worlds.

p.s. I know you requested my email, but I still haven't got it from the mods yet. I think Sister Sudoku is on holiday, but I'll get in touch as soon as it's passed onto me insha allah.
