There are 4 steps mentioned. I've tried translating the first one below. Inshaa' Allah Ta'ala, I will try doing more later.

    1. Repeat the Tasbeeh of لا اله الا الله over and over again.

There is a Hadeeth in Mishkaat:

[لا اله الا الله ليس لها حجاب دون الله ]
(Mishkaat - Chapter on the reward for Tasbeeh, Tahmeed, Tahleel and Takbeer. pg. 202)

Translation: Between لا اله الا الله and Allah Ta’ala there is no barrier.

When a servant on Earth recites this Kalimah then the لا اله reaches the Great Throne. The method of reading لا اله الا الله is this that when one says لا اله, then he should give a little attention to the fact that my لا اله has reached the Great Throne and when الا الله is said then a little attention should be given to the fact that due to a pillar of Noor from the Great Throne, the Noor of Allah has entered my heart. A little attention should be given – too much burden should not be put on to the mind. Approximately, after every 8 – 10 times, محمد الرسول الله should also be added to complete the Kalimah.

Actually, i've found an online english translation of the book from which those pages were taken out from:

    http://www.khanqah.org/books/show/the-four-actions

    scroll down to page 28.

Obviously much better translation than mine
