    Default The artist: cursed?

Apparently our beloved Prophet cursed one who draws animals, people, etc. (Bukhari??). Does this apply to:

    1) Doodling silly faces on a pad while chatting on the phone
    2) Drawing pictures for a small child to teach her words (e.g. drawing a dog to teach her the word "dog")
    3) Drawing for ones own pleasure (not to display the pictures etc., but simply because one has a natural knack for drawing faces, etc., and used to enjoy it).

    ??

    JazakAllah Khair.

Divine help means to have enough strength to do good deeds, when one intends to do.

What about abstract art, like the highly distorted drawings of Picasso?
