Default Regular eveyday disharge for females?

Doe everyday regular discharge break wudhu for women? This is a very common problem amongst women and it is difficult to do wudhu everytime this happens. Is there a ruling that it will not break wudhu?

I request that this question is not moved to any restricted section (sisters only) coz its a problem so many women have and they can all read the answer here even if they are not members.

    Assalamu alaikum,

    See this http://www.zamzamacademy.com/files/d...20Bleeding.pdf

From what I understand regular clear discharge will not break wudu according to Imam Abu Hanifa. If a woman experiences this regularly she can follow the opinion of Imam Abu Hanifa. This is what I understood from the article. If I understood wrong someone can correct me.

There was a discussion with an Alim who graduated from a Darul Uloom in Pakistan regarding this, who had said that if the discharge was less than the size of a 20 cent coin (Australian), wudu will not break. However, if the quantity of white discharge was more than that, wudu would have to be made again.

Discharge does break the wudhu, however if it is happening so often that it doesn't allow the person to do wudhu and pray namaz i think they are considered as mazoor (excused) and they will not have to do wudhu, they will only make it at the time of each salaat and it will remain intact until that namaz time expires. Allahu Alam
Anyone please correct if i am wrong. I have not heard about the ruling of the coin.

The everyday normal discharge will still be considered najis and breaks the wudhu, just like any other fluids etc emitted from the private parts. So yes she needs to do wudhu again, whether it is less than a dirham (50p coin) or more it would still be considered najis. She would need to redo istinja, wudhu and change her underwear/pantiliner. If she has less than the amount of a 50p coin on her underwear she can pray without changing it although it would be reprehensible (mahrooh tehrimi) to do so.

The only leeway would be if it is not discoloured, because then it is not considered to come from ‘within’ and is like the sweating of the exterior of the private parts. Then she can consider it to be pure and thus not affect her wudhu.

If a woman experiences excessive discharge (and you are right in saying that it is very common-many women I know complain of this-it hinders salah, travel etc. and can be very time consuming) she can take measures to reduce the inconvenience by plugging the passageway with a little bit of tissue or cotton wool, ensuring no part of it is visible outside of her private parts. Then even if she discharges, her wudhu will not break until she removes the cotton wool. She may want do this at times of travelling etc so she does not have to stop for wudhu and istinja repeatedly.

Also as At Talibah says, if it is so excessive that she cannot even do wudhu and pray her fardh salah without discharging again then only then will she be considered ma’zoor. This means her wudhu will not automatically break and she will be like the who who has istihadha or a continuous nosebleed, i.e. her wudhu will break when salah time ends.

I do not have any references to hand at the moment, but will look something up later on insha allah, if they have not already been provided by a mufti or scholar.

    Asalaamu alaykum

Regarding inserting something like cotton to stop discharge is it permissible for me to do this even when not travelling but instance when I'm out at uni or in town where cleaning oneself isn't very easy!

    wa'alaykumus salaam sis Aishath.

It is permissible to insert something to "stop" discharge even when not travelling. But your wudhu is only valid in one salat period and when the next solat period enters, you need to clean yourself (taharah) and re-take your wudhu if you wish to perform the fardh solat.

    Wallaahu a'lam.

note: Im posting based on Shafie madhhab since sister Aishath is Shafie. Apologize for intruding in Hanafi fiqh forum. Mod feel free to delete if found offensive.
