I am in no way advising others, but myself:
Daily 'Ibadat:
- Daily Quran and Azkar as much as possible.
- Memorizing Quran.
- Memorizing Hadith.
- No sleeping after Fajr.
- Tahajjud prayer.
- Recitation of Qur'an during Tahajjud time.
- If praying alone, not neglecting any Sunnah such as Athan and Iqamah.
- Keep home extremely clean.
- Income should be only halal.
- Whatever you buy for home, buy only halal things with halal money. This is a challenge in the west as one should be knowledgeable regarding the food ingredients and halal meat.
- Greeting family members with "assalamu ´alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu" while entering and leaving the house. (Sis. Aakhira's suggestion; thank you.)
Removals: things to get rid of at home.
- Internet.
- Cable TV.
- All pictures and paintings of animals; dolls and toys resembling animals.
- Back-biting and bickering.
Additives:
- Frequently invite pious friends.
- Orginize halaqas and sohbat's at home.
- Teach children Quran at home also.
- Don't neglect to invite poor for food.
- Weekly organize family summit; to recite Qur'an and make Dua together.
- As a head of the family, cry while reciting Qur'an; if you don't feel so, then force yourself for it; children should witness your sincerity in Deen.
I will gladly update my list upon anyone's helpful suggestions.
