Wa alaykumussalaam wa rahmatullah,
A quote from the interview:
"I ask that you, please, show me a single tariqa from among them whose murshid possesses knowledge of Islamic Law that is proficient and sufficient, who is aloof from this world and everything that it contains and is attached to it, and who possesses uprightness in his charactr.....I will go tomorrow to become his murid! But I have looked everywhere, and have not found such a murshid."

And if he were to ask for a gentle lady in marriage, he would be refused, and when he leaves the world it does not miss him, and if he goes out, his going out is not noticed, and if he falls sick, he is not attended to, and if he dies, he is not accompanied to his grave.

Very moving.
جزاك الله خير

I am sure the Shaykh (hafidhullah) is using emphasis + speaking from his own experiences.

Of course he would have met some great Murshids in his time, but I think he was being reflective of times gone by.
Sidi Ahmed Zuriqi 9th century sheikh stated that the true sheikh's are no more. He even wrote a book on what to do when the murabi is no more.
beautiful and powerful observations, loved it.

According to a moderator of the Rayaheen forums, sidi Ayman ash-Shafi`i, Sh. al-Buti took back his position in a letter sent to Shaykh Ahmed FathuLlah Jami. He also seems to have changed his positions on the Rifa`i karamaat. In addition he has no contact with his website...
