McDonalds in Turkey is fine and I am almost positive it is halal. Avoid mcNuggets like the plague since last time I ate them I ended up with food poisoning.

I live in Turkey and I have never found a place that has meat that isn't halal (unless you count the very few pork items that appear on some more expensive touristy restaurants.) The chicken was halal, it just wasn't cooked properly, it did look a bit pink when I ate it causing me to get food poisoning. I never have had to worry about my meat not being halal since the majority of it is. If you see covered Muslimas eating in the restaurants as well that is also a good sign.

For red meat, 99.9% is slaughtered by hand but chickens are mostly machine based. You need to be very vigilant and questioning about chicken and make sure you are getting the hand slaughtered ones. Just a rough estimate 10% of the chickens are hand slaughtered in Turkiye at this point. Unless you go into villages or safe sources, the big companies are using machine based slaughtering.
    This is what I mean

I just always ask if it is halal or not, every time I have asked the answer was that the chicken was halal. I just live hear and am no expert on Turkish cchicken slaughter but many muslims are eating the chicken from the same places I am so I am pretty confident it is safe to eat.

sorry to revive a old thread but im intending go to Turkey in a few months time inshallah. What areas of Istanbul are best to stay in? any hotel recommendations? Id like a hotel with a near by masjid but also not be too far away from the sightseeing locations. Intending to stay for about a week so its gonna be a relaxing break away with some sightseeing. Hotel/accomodation just needs to provide a nice breakfast as then we're intending to be out for the ret of the day.

If theres anything I need to know then please feel free to add.

If anyone has any contacts there, or even lives there, then could they possibly get in touch with my via email. Mods ahve permission to forward my email.
