Assalaam'aaleykum!
Why is green colour symbolic to Islam?
From my limited knowledge it has no relevance in Islam. It predominantly Pakistanis whom seem to think that just becuase their flag is green, the colour green must be holy (also seem to confuse Pakistan for the Holy land). The Prophetnever even wore a green turban;

I am sure it has some minor relevance to Islamic history, but not the the extent where it has been promoted to by certain sects or group of people.

What is destined will reach you, even if it be underneath two mountains. What is not destined, will not reach you, even if it be between your two lips
“(The people of Paradise) will wear green garments of fine silk [The Noble Quran, 18:31].”
"Translation: Suliman bin Abi Abdullah (ra) narrates that he met the "First amongst Mahajireen" they were wearing thick turbans which were of black, white, red and “GREEN COLOUR” [Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah (6/48)]
Quran states:Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?, Reclining on "GREEN CUSHIONS" and rich Carpets of beauty. (Surah ar-Rahman 55:75-76)
Volume 7, Book 72, Number 713: (Sahih Bukhari)
Narrated Um Khalid bint Khalid: The Prophet was given some clothes including a black Khamisa. The Prophet said, "To whom shall we give this to wear?" The people kept silent whereupon the Prophet said, "Fetch Um Khalid for me." I (Um Khalid) was brought carried (as I was small girl at that time). The Prophet took the Khamisa in his hands and made me wear it and said, “May you live so long that your dress will wear out and you will mend it many times." On the Khamisa there were some green or pale designs (The Prophet saw these designs) and said, "O Um Khalid! This is Sanah." (Sanah is an Ethiopian word meaning beautiful).
Sayyidina Abu Rimthah (RA) reported that he observed Allah’s Messenger (SAW)in a pair of green garments
[Dawud Book 9 Hadith 1678 ]
And here is a picture of the green turban of rasoolulha(SAW)
now it may not be sunnah, but it is mentioned alot in sahih hadeeth as well as Quran. It was also the color of the first flags of Islam.

you doubt the authenticity of these relics?
I posted that for you, when you said Muhamed(SAW) didnt wear green. Do you have a reason to doubt its authenticity?
oh, and this hadeeth;
The most beloved color to the Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu 'alayhi wasalam was green.
Source(s):
[1] It was collected by Al-Bazzaar in his Musnad with a weak chain, but there are other chains that strengthen it to the level of hasan as Al-Albaanee has explained in Silsilatul-Ahaadeethis-Saheehah (#2054).
I'll take authentic hadith and scholarly academia over any relic! You never answered the question how does what you have stated make the colour green symbolic over any other colour mentioned in the Quran or Hadith?

This hasana hadeeth (sorry its not sahih) and the numerous mentions of the color green in sahih Hadeth and Quran make it a color that has been favored by Muslims throughout the centuries.
I have actually seen the Turban you that we both posted and it looks green in real life. My picture seems to be a little more green than yours, but I remeber it being green.
now, if your looking for some hadeth or ayat which specifys green as the oficial color of Islam, I dont know of any. This may be why its not fardh to wear green. The lovers of rasoolullah(SAW) strive to emmulate his every action and being, so they opt for the color green over others, I have never heard anyone put down for wearing a diffeent color, have you? If you dont want to wear green or use green in your personal decor, thats no big deal. I listed all those hadeeth and ayats to show the OP where this green motif in Islam comes from. Whats your beef with it being used?
I genuinely don't have a problem with people wearing green turbans, clothes or waving green flags, just don't tell me that the colour green is somehow more symbolic in Islam over lets say the colour white. I am not here to oppose you for the sake of it, If you bring me compelling evidence or anyone else for that matter then i am willing to submit to that.

What museum has that turban in its collection? Cause I was under the impression that the Topkapi Palace Museum possessed most of the authentic relics of the Prophetand his companions.
How much more compelling evidence do you need?
These hadeeths (and maybe more) show why green has been prefered by the generations of Muslims who preceded us, and were much better than us in terms of understanding deen.
There is no such thing as coincidence, so why the reoccuring green theme throughout Islam
Now heres something I just thought of, and im a nobody so feel free to disregard this, But the majority of the earth is green, which was, according to hasan hadeeth, was Muhameds(SAW) favorite color, and Muhamed(SAW) is the most beloved creation of Allah, who created the earth and chose the color green to color it. I dont know, I just thought of that.
