Default Jews used to pray like Muslims

    السلام عليكم

Jews obviously used to pray similar to how we pray. After all, all the prophets of old also practiced salaat.

This is a diagram in the book To Pray as a Jew

As you can see, the traditional Jewish prayer includes qiyaam, ruku, and sajda.

Now very few Jews continue to pray like this, but there are still, for example, the person in this video is showing the traditional Jewish prayer:

Here you can notice that they even grasp their right hand over their left hand and place it over the chest (not below the navel), which is the Sunnah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

, I have read about it, but to see and hear it with translation... it makes me think of the du'a of Zakariyya in the Qur'an.

    Bismillah
    Assalamu Alaykum,

Know that Jews have prayed in a slightly different manner throughout history, as have Muslims. An important point to note is that different Rusul brought slightly different laws, and therefore it is not necessary that all the Prophets and Messengers prayed in the same manner.

As far as placing the hands above the chest, remember that according to the Hadith the Jews of Arabia in the time of the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa aalihi wa sallam) used to put their hands on their flanks, and we were told not to copy this behaviour. And as far as I can remember, according to the books of old some of the Jews have also prayed with their arms hanging, similar to Malikis, Zaydis, Imamis and Ibadis.

    wassalam

You are right that praying with your hands at your flanks is forbidden. Yet the blind followers of the Maliki madhhab still do this. If you tell them to pray according to the sunnah, they will tell you they blindly follow imaam Maalik.

Among Jews, apparently then there is a difference, because their Talmud says:

"and he places his hands clasped upon his heart, the right hand over the left hand, and stands as a servant before his Master - in awe, reverence, and fear - and he should not place his hands upon his sides." (Hillkoth Tafilla 5:4)

You mistakenly assume that "hands on the flanks" = "hands on the side". Both are different.

Flank is another word for side in the English language. There is no difference.

Nice ijtihad, so what scholars do you have ijaza from?

When the Kuffaar are hostile to you then fight them completely, just as they fight you completely. You should not hold back anything and put all your resources behind the Jihaad.

THe Jewish prayer can actually be used against you, since takfeer/takattuf is proven from Talmud and the Prophet in his last days started to differ from Jews and nasaara and forbade us from imitating them, therefore qabd could be abrogated.

Why do I need an ijazah from some mullah? I have an ijazah from Allaah, rather a command from Him to preach the truth of Quraan and Sunnah. Forget your mullahs, I follow Allaah and His Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم.
