    Assalam o 'alaykum,

I am sorry to say this but the above statement shows your ignorance of the Deobandi-Barelwi split. Deobandi-Barelwi split has nothing to do with culture or geography.

Can you tell me anything in the above fatwa that has to do anything with culture? These differences are clearly based on 'aqaid and other fiqhi practices.

If you don't agree with the above fatwa, then you are entitled to your opinion but don't brush it off as "cultural baggage".

Reading this thread it becomes clear as to why the Ummah is so divided, and what the hell has Deobandi-Barelwi split got to do with culture? They eat the same foods, wear the same clothes, speak the same languages, listen to the same nonsense, watch the same cr*p etc. etc. They're only divided in terms of religious practices & beliefs and rightly so if those wishing to follow batil (falsehood) want to continue to do so then let them, I personally want nothing to do with it.

That is true. It has nothing to do with culture whatsoever. This is a propoganda tool used by certain people to lure in people to their way which is very similar to the Salafi tactic used to fool people by confusing them about the four madhhabs or the Hadith rejectors when they fool people using similar tactics. Batil always smells the same. You just have to know the smell.

I am not an ethnic Indian or "Pakistani" or Malay and I shared the brother's sentiments. He and I both have clarified our statements that when we said we were happy not to be of Indo-Pak descent was because we don't have to deal with the cultural baggage of the deobandi-barelvi split; nothing more.

Amazing how sensitive, and quick to jump the gun, some people are
shame on you.... is this the akhlaaq taught by your parents? waste of time writing in this thread.

I will say it again Im glad Im not Indian.

because the berlwi deo split does not affect me. I will pray in any masjied where the one who reciteds says La ilaha illallah muhammadur rasulullah. infact we should only be folloing an imaam who is ashari or maturidid but why are we not afraid to follow those who believe that Allah sits on his arsh, why are we not affraid to follow those who say Allah has a face & hands.

I make maulid & I stand for qiyaam, I am not a berelwi. I dont stand because I think that he SAWS is present either. but I can not say that he isnt either. Allah knows best about the rooh & where it is stationed. & I will say "Ya Nabi salaam alayka" or "Assalaa tu wassalaam alayka ya rasulullah" because he will get it in his qabr.

by the way the girls in Malaysia, if they are muslim know that they are in sin when dressing like that. but all those ladies in subcontinent with their punjab suits with high slits & shawl over the back of their heads dont have an idea of hijaab. muslims & non muslim dress alike in that region (watch monsoon wedding). Im glad for one thing about tabligh thoug I am not part of them. they taught the woman to dress correctly. so we could say that these girls in malaysia are open sinners but what is the excuse of the woman in indo park who have all the abdaals & akaabireen that you made mention of. are they oblivious about hijaab in a place that has scholars.

    Slm,

It is clear that there are not only 1 or 2 brothers on this forum who has issue with the 'ethnic group's' split affecting not just them but also outsiders. I am revert, white and I just can't get my head and heart around all the fuss that is made between Deo/Berelwi. It's like shouldn't we rather spend our borrowed time focussing on bettering ourselves and other muslim's situations instead of meddling on for years and years about a few differences of opinion as per a certain version of Islaam? I mean no one else besides Indo/Pak's care whether you judge each other but it becomes an issue when you start throwing around opinions outside your small group. Only Allah (SWT) may judge inshaAllah. Ameen.
