Dear sister, I have been to Deoband three times but every time I went, I stayed at the house of Moulana Asad Madni , so my experience of staying there would be different to other sisters who wanted to go. Saharanpur, I haven't been yet but a friend of mine spent a year there. By Hadhrat shaykh, I'm assuming you mean Shaykh Zakariyah . I've not met his daughters, only his daughter in law when Moulana Talha sahab came to our house a few years ago. I have met Hadhrat Madni's wife though when I spent some time at their house years ago.

Not at all; I come from a very humble family background. Hadhrat Madni's RA wife, yes, she is very old and doesn't stay too well now. She's mother to Moulana Arshad sahab and Moulana Asjad sahab, but not Moulana Asad Madani. Yes, I have been to Darul Uloom Deoband. I was lucky enough to be given a quick tour while the students were in class. The sight of the dawrah hadeeth class is something I will never forgegt Also the graves of Shaykhul Hind and Hadhrat Madani . With regards to the other details, when you join the sisters section then we can talk in more detail. I hope thats okay.

I'm not from Rander, but I've spent alot of time there. My husband studied there. Shaykh Raza Ajmeri was a true saint of Allah. I've heard much of him from my husband who was very close to him. My husband assisted his son, Qari Sahib in compiling his biography after he passed away 'Tazhkiratul Raza'. Its in Urdu. I see you’ve started a thread about Qari Rashid sb so if you understand Urdu and you're able to get a copy of it, it is quite beautiful to read.

Shaykh Ajmeri was one amongst millions and unknown to westerners. But there are many saints and scholars in India and other parts of the sub-continent that are little known in the west but who are gems and mountains of knowledge, taqwa and ma'rifat. Some of the greatest shuyookh of ilm and tasawwuf are never mentioned on SF or even the internet, but they are the ones that keep the world going round. In the west, the public tends to pick a few scholars who are masha allah good orators are then everything revolves around them. The true saints of Allah are forgotten by the western Muslims and this is why we are left feeling so dissatisfied with our scholars.

You can go to small cities like Rander in India, but even more so in northern India, and find hundreds of aalims who are exactly what they should be in terms of ilm, zuhd and taqwa. You just need to know where to look. May Allah enable us to benefit from them all.
    Assalam alaikum w.w..

He could arrange for some private tuition for his wife with some local scholars, but he would need a local reputable person to help him arrange that.

I've stayed there myself for a while and have friends who have stayed there too; some for a whole year. Its not easy for a woman of the west to stay in Deoband/Saharanpur though. The seasons are extreme and the facilities are not good if you’re living in your own home.

    for the response.

I have a couple other questions, if you could answer them:

What would the quality of the private tuition be? Would it be on equal footing as that found in a Madrasa? And is the weather that bad? Is it worse than Hijaz in the summer, for example?

What would be your recommendation for a young couple who want to study in Pakistan/India?

Is this even possible for non-citizens currently? If not, what would be the next best alternative?

    Again, for your help.
